Carrying the theme “A Malaysian Heritage”, Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara’s all-day dining restaurant Kwee Zeen is set to feast diners with a gastronomic experience close to home with homemade traditional dishes that will excite your famished stomachs. Besides the array of delectable Malay delicacies, the buffet also includes Chinese, Indian and Western favourites. Led by the hotel’s executive chef Kim Gates and celebrity chef Dato’ Haji Ismail Ahmad, both strive to provide diners with authentic Malaysian flavours that diner should not miss!
The following are some of the signature dishes you must try:
1. Ayam Golek Istana
Dine like royalty with Dato’ Chef Ismail’s signature dish, Ayam Golek Istana, a wood-fire broiled chicken dressed in chef’s secret gravy recipe! Served on a bed of vibrant and delicious raisin and cashew nut biryani rice, this dish bursts with rich sweet and savoury flavours that leave you wanting more. There’s also the lamb option called Kambing Golek in case your heart (or starving tummy) craves for it!
2. Asam Pedas Ikan Pari
A Malaysian favourite, Asam Pedas (a spicy and sour dish) is a dish that can hardly go wrong especially when paired with stingray! It is a perfect combination because stingray meat soaks up the gravy, giving it a wholesome taste. With the good balance of tanginess, saltiness, sweetness and spiciness, Kwee Zeen did not go wrong with our beloved local dish.
3. Curry Laksa
Do not miss Kwee Zeen’s live noodle soup station that dishes out appetising curry laksa! The broth is infused with laksa paste and rich spices cooked with slices of chicken, turning it into a flavourful satisfying laksa that is sure to tantalise your taste buds. Diners can have this dish served to them using noodle type of their own selection and topped with a variety of condiments.
4. Wide selection of desserts
No buffet is complete without a dessert section and there are many to choose from at Kwee Zeen, ranging from local to Western desserts. A sweet treat after a fulfilling meal, diners can try local delicious kuih, onde-onde (rice balls filled with gula melaka or palm sugar) or Crème Choux (cream puffs with vanilla filling)!
