KUALA LUMPUR, March 2013 – Jarno Trulli, former Formula One racing driver from Italy who was a regular in F1 from 1997 to 2011, today showcased his wine brand, Podere Castorani at Jasons Food Hall in Bangsar Shopping Centre.

His wines were paired with premium Italian cuisine prepared by Marini’s on 57 Chef, Federico Michieletto, who showcased Monte Verde food products to shoppers and fans.


Jarno’s grandfather was a winemaker, and he spent a lot of time with him among the vines in his youth. Jarno’s manager Lucio Cavuto is also from a wine making family, and together they bought the estate, which dates back to 1793, and the two families have invested around RM24 million into the business. They have brought it up to the point where they now have 26 different wines in their range.

They regularly win prizes around the world, and one of their white wines has won the International Wine Challenge in the UK. Their wines are available at Jasons Food Hall and Marini’s on 57.

Jarno said, “We use modern versions of the old vertical press system, which is far more time consuming and expensive than the new horizontal presses used by most large scale winemakers, but it means better quality wine and that is what matters to us. Everything is about quality.”

Typical of someone who has worked in Formula 1, the attention to detail and quest for perfection are clear to see. His strong support of leading Italian brands in Malaysia is evident in his endorsement of his own brand, Podere Castorani, and others such as Marini’s on 57 and Monte Verde.

Shoppers and fans were treated to dishes prepared by Chef Federico Michieletto, using Monte Verde products. Chef Federico hails from Venice, Italy, and is the resident chef at Marini’s on 57, the latest iconic roof-top destination in Kuala Lumpur. Located on Level 57 of Menara 3 Petronas in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre, the establishment is the highest restaurant, bar and lounge in the country.


Monte Verde is the leading maker and exporter of fine artisan handmade pastas, extra virgin olive oil, mineral water, premium quality balsamic vinegar, instant cappuccinos and more.
