Industry Partners Back RWMF 2026 Despite Tourism Challenges

KUCHING, Malaysia, 21 May 2026 — The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2026 continues to receive strong backing from strategic partners across aviation, media, sustainability, hospitality and corporate sectors, reinforcing confidence in one of Southeast Asia’s most recognised cultural festivals despite ongoing global tourism uncertainties.

Speaking at the RWMF 2026 Sponsors’ Appreciation Day at the Sheraton Hotel Kuching, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew said the continued support reflected growing confidence in Sarawak’s tourism direction and the international value of culture-led tourism. He noted that festivals such as RWMF strengthen destination identity, encourage cultural exchange and enhance global visibility for Sarawak.

The appreciation event brought together sponsors, media organisations, tourism stakeholders and collaborators supporting the festival’s 29th edition. Official partners include Malaysia Airlines and Firefly as airline partners, TV Sarawak as official broadcast partner, and Astro Radio stations Era FM Sarawak, Sinar FM, Mix FM and Lite FM as official radio partners. Other collaborators span sustainability, hospitality, mobility and beverage sectors.

Sarawak Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor said RWMF continues to be shaped by the collective contributions of sponsors, media, performers and tourism stakeholders, adding that no single organisation could build the festival alone.

RWMF 2026 is expected to feature more than 200 performers from multiple countries under the theme “Regenerations: Roots & Rhythms”, reinforcing Sarawak’s positioning as the Gateway to Borneo. The festival was also ranked No. 8 in the Top 10 category at the Transglobal World Music Chart – Festival Awards 2025. Sustainability initiatives such as Green Ruai, recycling programmes and water refill stations will continue as part of the festival’s eco-conscious operations.
