Mak Tam’s Nasi Talam Set: A Village Feast for the Soul

After a scenic three-hour drive to Lenggong, hunger pangs led us to Warung Nasi Talam Mak Tam in Kampung Pangkalan. This local favourite offers a unique dining experience infused with the charm of village life. The star of the menu is the eatery’s Nasi Talam Set, priced at an affordable MYR40, which generously feeds four people. The set includes an array of dishes: Ikan bakar talapia, Ikan pekasam, Kerabu pucuk paku, Gulai ikan loma, Sambal belacan, Air asam dan ulam.

Each dish highlights fresh river fish, delivering authentic flavors that are hard to find elsewhere. The tranquil setting, coupled with the heartwarming hospitality of Mak Tam herself, turns the meal into an unforgettable experience. Her cheerful demeanor and pride in her ingredients made us feel right at home.

Stay by the River: D’Impiana Riverview Chalet

After a satisfying lunch, we headed to our accommodation, D’Impiana Riverview Chalet. Nestled by the river and surrounded by lush greenery, this serene retreat is perfect for anyone seeking an escape from city life. The chalets are simple yet spacious, clean, and equipped with essential amenities. Each unit offers a view of the calming river, ideal for relaxing on the veranda while listening to the gentle flow of water.

Evenings here are best spent by the BBQ pit. We grilled marinated chicken by the riverside, with the cool breeze and soothing sounds of the river enhancing our dining experience. If you’re visiting, a BBQ night is a must for a truly memorable stay.

Exploring Nature with Lenggong Boat Cruise

We embarked on the Lenggong Boat Cruise, a serene journey along the Perak River. As the boat glided through the calm waters, we were captivated by the lush landscapes and vibrant birdlife along the riverbanks.

Midway through the cruise, we stopped at a lakeside village to savour a traditional lunch on a jetty, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of Tasik Raban. The highlight of the meal was Nasi Daun Bemban, a fragrant rice dish wrapped in bemban leaves, served with fresh kampung-style sides like ulam-ulaman and sambal belacan. This unique dining experience perfectly combines authentic flavours with breathtaking views.

Gua Kajang: Exploring Hidden Wonders

We continued our journey to the next destination, Gua Kajang. This cave is known for its unique limestone formations and the natural mystery it holds. As we ventured deeper into the cave, we were surrounded by a cool and dark atmosphere. Every corner of the cave is filled with stunning stalactites and stalagmites, creating an almost magical underground world.

What makes Gua Kajang fascinating is the rock formations that have taken thousands of years to shape, giving it a mystical feel as if we were exploring a completely different world. Inside the cave, there are also several spacious areas, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers and adventurers. Visiting Gua Kajang is a truly eye-opening experience that offers a new perspective on Malaysia’s rich geological heritage and the hidden beauty deep within the earth.

Himalaya Camp Gopeng: Fun & Relaxation Amidst Nature

Himalaya Camp Gopeng is a hidden gem deep in the jungle, perfect for unwinding and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery, the camp offers a calm and refreshing atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Aside from the stunning views, Himalaya Camp Gopeng has plenty of fun activities to offer. The Rainbow Slide is a must-try, priced at RM10 for two rides, which brings out your inner child! For those seeking more adventure, White Water Rafting will challenge your courage. There are also activities like camping, hiking, and fishing, suitable for all ages.

Gua Tempurung: A Thrilling Underground Adventure

We woke up with a renewed sense of energy, ready for the next challenge. After enjoying the tranquility at Himalaya Camp Gopeng, we headed to something more adventurous: Gua Tempurung! We decided to try the Dry Tour, one of the exciting activities offered here. Gua Tempurung is famous for its stunning stalactites and stalagmites, alongside pathways filled with challenges and fascinating experiences.

The Dry Tour allowed us to explore the cave without getting wet but still experience the awe-inspiring atmosphere of the vast cave. Our guide, holding a flashlight, led the way as we navigated narrow, sometimes slippery passages. Every step is filled with curiosity as we marvelled at the unique rock formations, feeling as though we had stepped into another world. It was incredible to see how nature has shaped such breathtaking beauty.

This activity not only tested our stamina and courage but also gave us a chance to truly appreciate the natural wonders within Gua Tempurung. Who would have thought that such a simple journey could shift our perspective on the stunning underground world?

Fun Activities and OOTD Spots at Zahara Garden

Zahara Garden in Gopeng, Perak, is a stunning garden filled with a variety of beautiful plant species and meticulously designed landscapes. The garden is famous for its colourful flowers and the peaceful, calming atmosphere. At Zahara Garden, visitors can enjoy a variety of exciting activities. One of the highlights is the flying fox! This thrilling activity offers an exciting experience while you take in the stunning views of the garden from above. Soaring through the air with the cool breeze and surrounded by the lush greenery, the flying fox at Zahara Garden is a great choice for those looking for a little adventure.

Additionally, visitors can feed the friendly animals that roam around the garden. One of the most charming creatures here is the alpaca! You can buy special food from the garden and feed these adorable animals, enjoying a relaxing time in the heart of nature. This activity is not only fun but also brings visitors closer to nature and these cute animals.

A Tranquil Village Experience: Dinner at Bagas Zakariah

Dinner at Bagas Zakariah is a relaxed and peaceful experience. Located in Kg. Lawan Kuda, Gopeng, Perak, this place is surrounded by the beauty of nature and a calm village atmosphere. The traditional houses here are unique, blending classic Malay style with modern elements. There are three accommodation options — Rumah Kuning, Rumah, and Rumah Lawan Kuda — all family-friendly and perfect for gatherings with loved ones.

What makes this place even more special is that, in addition to the comfortable stay, Bagas Zakariah is nestled amidst fruit orchards and a crystal-clear river, creating a serene environment where time seems to slow down. Many couples choose this location for traditional weddings or photo sessions, thanks to the stunning scenery. After just a short time here, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back into a simpler, more stress-free era.

There are also plenty of outdoor activities for adventure seekers, such as jungle trekking, river tubing, and white-water rafting, all set in the midst of nature. Situated within the Kinta Valley National Geopark, the surrounding views are breathtaking and sure to captivate anyone who lays eyes on them. The place also holds a fascinating history, as it was once a rubber plantation established in the 1920s, offering a glimpse into the area’s heritage.

Overall, Bagas Zakariah is not just a place to stay, but a getaway that lets you escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Here, you can enjoy tranquility, immerse yourself in natural beauty, and experience village life rich in history and tradition. It’s sure to create lasting memories!

HOGA Gaharu Tea Valley: A Sweet Farewell

Our final stop was HOGA Gaharu Tea Valley, a tranquil plantation famous for its medicinal gaharu tea. We started with a refreshing cup of fruit tea before taking a van ride up to HOGA Hilltop. The panoramic views, paired with the lush trees of gaharu — also known as agarwood — were truly spectacular.
