The Centre unveils brand new live cooking display stations at Australia Day Celebration

KUALA LUMPUR – The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) kicked off its Culinaria journey with the launch of its new line of live cooking stations during the Australian High Commission Malaysia’s Australia Day 2019 Celebration, a stylish reception attended by over 1,000 distinguished guests from Government and Malaysian society.

Elaborating on the event, the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor said, “We are delighted to have partnered with the Australian High Commission to host this reception for the 12th consecutive year. As one of our longest-standing events, this was the ideal occasion to showcase our new live cooking stations with delightful cuisine and creative presentation, reflective of the expertise of our award-winning chefs, as well as our unique 5-star banqueting capabilities.”

He continued, “We pride ourselves on our culinary excellence and to maintain this reputation we are continuously investing in the latest culinary equipment to enhance the guest experience. The new live cooking stations are part of a recent investment of close to RM1million. Artisanal food can be prepared a-la-minute and adds to the ambience and engagement in a very relaxed and interactive environment.

The Centre’s Executive Chef, Hisham Bin Jaafar spent six months with his team planning and developing the Australia Day menu to deliver an authentic ‘Aussie experience with a local twist’.

“Every year we look to innovate to ‘outdo’ the previous reception and this year we used Malaysia’s rich multi-cultural heritage as our inspiration. The customised menu used premium Australian produce that were infused with traditional local flavours to deliver a splendid fusion of Western and Malaysian cuisine that took guests on an immersive and interactive culinary adventure they will never forget,” shared Chef Hisham.

To add to the occasion, the Centre handcrafted magnificent ice sculptures depicting some of Australia’s most iconic images, such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a kangaroo and koala, which were enhanced with specially designed themed venue décor and ambient lighting.

Praising the entire team for their efforts, Pryor concluded, “This event is yet another example of how our team goes above and beyond to deliver value and enrich the customer journey of our recurrent and new clients.”
