According to the resort’s affable General Manager Marcus Wirsching, the resort is backed by a team of investors from VinaCapital – a leading investment and real estate development firm – consisting of astute and experienced business personalities who understand real estate, hospitality, and the tourism business, resulting in the creation of a sanctuary that even the most discerning of travellers would appreciate.
On top of that, Maia Resort Quy Nhon is part of the fast-expanding property management company Fusion Hotel Group which already has several unique properties located in Vietnam and Thailand in its stable.
Location
Flanked by dramatic mountains, lush tropical forests, and pristine beaches, the coastal city of Quy Nhon is a bustling centre in harmony with its natural surroundings.
Relatively obscure, and unfrequented by mass tourism, the coastal city of Quy Nhon is an off-the-beaten-path getaway destination replete with stunning beaches, dramatic mountain ranges and quintessential Vietnamese culture.
A short drive from Phu Cat Airport, this prosperous port city is a recent addition to Vietnam’s must-visit destinations boasting an expansive coastline, and smartly manicured promenades that have made it popular among local tourists. The surrounding region is dotted with hidden coves, quaint fishing villages and an abundance of fresh seafood, making it the ideal vantage point for further exploration of the Binh Dinh province.
Walking along the accessible pristine beach early in the morning might give you an idea of what Quy Nhon is about: an idyllic beachside haven situated along the peaceful Phuong Mai Bay that is less crowded and more peaceful. Since the beach fringing Maia Resort Quy Nhon faces east, it affords guests the dramatic view of sunrise. The huge white Buddha statue sitting in cross-legged position with a serene facial expression on the hillside facing can be seen from afar, seemingly to concur that this is the destination where you can find your inner peace and balance.
Accommodation
Maia Resort Quy Nhon features 95 one-storey villas with privacy. Prior to accessing their rooms, during check-in, guests are received by the welcoming staff at the resort’s tropical modern lobby that sports an open plan, making it spacious and airy.
Fuss-free, minimalistic, timeless design runs throughout the resort. The structures within the resort are given the modern interpretation of tropical architecture that generally allows as much natural light to flood in, but with enough shade and proper cross ventilation or air-conditioning to ensure guests’ thermal comfort. To me, the villas’ interiors are what make the resort special.
Designed to imbue the familiar while being completely transportive, Maia Resort Quy Nhon offers a collection of villa categories to suit your vacation needs. Each villa is tastefully designed to provide a touch of familiarity coupled with international sophistication and cosiness amidst a serene impeccable tropical beachside setting.
All villas are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art modern conveniences as well, with enough selection of television channels to let you know what’s currently happening in the rest of world as you remain sequestered within its grounds.
In general, all villas at Maia Resort Quy Nhon are characterised by contemporary elegance as you’d expect from Fusion Hotel Group, with open-plan living space; sleeping area with twin or king-sized bed; en-suite bathroom; indoor and outdoor lounge spaces; and a shared, enclosed garden – which are the ingredients of a luxurious bubble that help to melt away stress. All villa categories, except the Garden Villas, come together with private pools for guests’ pleasure.
Yes, each of the 14 entry-level, 61-metre squared Garden Villas do not come with a private pool. But after having that said, these villas are among the closest to the resort’s main facilities like restaurants, gym, and spa, which I wouldn’t mind at all staying just in case the other villa categories are unavailable because these villas are also built in the same high standard as the other categories.
On the other hand, the stylish private pool villas offer the best of inside and outside living space with the comforts of home. Staying in one of the pool villas is indeed a boon for those who are too lazy to walk to the resort’s main pool or prefer to simply remain cocooned within the luxurious comforts of their rooms.

What to do when staying at Maia Resort Quy Nhon:
Whilst staying at the resort, guests should head to Vẽla Spa, a sanctuary of rejuvenation via a sublime spa experience. Tailor-made treatments, enriched with all-natural and locally sourced ingredients, promise to restore guests’ balance and inner calm. Vela is not just a spa; it’s a seaside refuge where holistic therapies cleanse, replenish, and heal, a testament to ecological focus that extends from local herbs to spa rituals. The “Coconut Religion” body massage is a celebration of eco-conscious beauty, part of the ‘jungle-to-jar’ concept that champions handcrafted products from the Mekong Delta.
Once guests feel refreshed, they are recommended to step out of the resort and explore some of Quy Nhon’s delights. One of them is savouring the local delicacy called banhxeo, which are rice paper cakes similar to the spring rolls served in the south of Vietnam but in smaller size and filled with hearty stuffings like fresh prawns, squids, diced green onion, mung bean, and bean sprouts, accompanied by healthy leafy side dishes. Once guests had their fill, to help them effectively digest their meal, they could then stroll around the nearby market to have a look at what locals shop day-to-day.
Besides savouring banh xeo, another must-do in Quy Nhon is to visit the best-preserved 11th-century Cham ruins that hark back to the ancient kingdom of Champa, known collectively as the Cham Towers of Quy Nhon found on the city’s outskirts. These towers signify Champa’s coastal dominance between 1000 and 1500 A.D.
The Cham people, indigenous rulers of the region, were skilled seafarers who once commanded the trade routes between China, India, and Indonesia, exchanging silk and spices. Today, their legacy spans across Southeast Asia, from Vietnam and Cambodia to Thailand and Malaysia. Binh Dinh Province proudly hosts 14 original Cham towers, a testament to their historical significance.
Among the vestiges that guests shouldn’t miss are the four exquisitely restored Banh It Towers on top of a hill at Đại Lộc village in Tuy Phước district, nestling between Quy Nhơn and Phù Cát airport. Positioned about 15 kilometres from Quy Nhon city centre, these towers promise a grand impression. Signs dotting the site provide insights into each tower’s architecture, revealing a transition from the style of the first Cham Kingdom from the 4th to 8th century A.D. to the Binh Dinh style that can be seen today.
Built at the end of the 11th century, each tower bears a distinct architectural identity, showcasing beauty from afar and majesty up close. As you ascend from the parking lot to the Gate Tower on the complex’s eastern edge, you will be able to admire the structure’s intricate details, with the main tower drawing your gaze through a thoughtfully designed archway.
Climbing further leads you to the Sanctuary Tower and the Fire Tower, standing at an imposing 29.6 metres. The Sanctuary Tower’s five double-groove pilasters and rich decorative patterns adorn its roof, with leaf and flower motifs delicately etched on the edges. Today, these towers remain a sacred space, a focal point for Buddhists to engage in religious activities. This is also the site where guests can absorb the sweeping panorama of Binh Dinh province from a high ground.
Another Cham vestige that guests can witness are the Thap Doi Towers, or ‘Twin Towers’, just two kilometres away from the city centre. Dating back to the late 12th and early 13th century, these red brick towers stand solemnly in a city park, surrounded by tropical flora. Ascend the towers’ steep steps to marvel at the architectural fusion reflecting the exchanges between ancient Champa and the Khmer kingdoms.
