Malaysia’s latest curated integrated destination in Johor, Desaru Coast, was officially launched by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, the Sultan of Johor, today. The launch marked an important milestone for the development of Desaru Coast which is set to revitalise the Desaru town and serve as a socio-economic catalyst.
Held at the Desaru Coast Conference Centre, the launch was witnessed by the Chief Minister of Johor, Dato’ Dr. Sahruddin bin Jamal and Dato’ Ahmad Pardas Senin, Chairman of Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn Bhd (DH1), the master developer of Desaru Coast.
“Today, an organisation’s aspiration comes to life as we witness the celebration of the journey, the hard work, and tireless dedication of the men and women of Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn. Bhd. Of course over and above that, the development of Desaru Coast would not be possible without the wise counsel and auspices of His Majesty, the Sultan of Johor and the state government of Johor and for that, I would like to express our profound gratitude. It is our hope and ambition that Desaru Coast showcases to the world the best of Johor and indeed, Malaysian hospitality and culture” said Dato’ Ahmad Pardas Senin, Chairman of DH1.
In conjunction with the official launch ceremony, Desaru Coast is hosting the inaugural edition of the Ombak Festival. The Ombak Festival will be an annual event with specially curated activities including culture, music and food that highlight homegrown talent and products, and showcase local expertise and creativity.
Featuring only the best of Johor, the festival kicked-off today and will be held over the weekend until 7 July at the Desaru Coast Riverside, which will be the main venue of the festival while beach goers can take advantage of the exciting line-up of thrilling beach activities and watersports action at the Desaru Coast beach. The festival will be open to visitors from 10am to 10pm over the three days.
Roslina Arbak, Chief Executive Officer of DH1 added, “with the Visit Malaysia 2020 and Visit Johor 2020 campaigns, Desaru Coast is prepared to collaborate and partner up with various stakeholders in pursuit of a common goal to provide a well-rounded, end-to-end spectrum of guest experiences. That is Desaru Coast’s commitment to the wider tourism ecosystem.”
Desaru Coast, a coastal getaway with a pristine 17km beachfront, will offer a series of bespoke local experiences to promote the destination’s natural assets, arts, culture and heritage.
