Nobu Kuala Lumpur Appoints New Head Sushi Chef

Chef Chico returns to Asia with a special sushi omakase menu

Kuala LumpurNobu Kuala Lumpur is pleased to announce its new sushi chef, Chef Micheole “Chico” Anung Datur, the latest addition to its increasingly dedicated and passionate team – one that is uniquely imbued with the commitment to the subtleties and the high flair of Nobu-san’s world of cooking.

With 11 years of work experience in Japanese cuisine under his belt, the Filipino-born Chef Chico started his career with Nobu five years ago at Nobu Lanai, Hawaii. After one year, he was reassigned to Nobu Malibu to train under the tutelage of Head Sushi Chef Toshiyuki Shiramizu. Now, after four years of sharpening his knives in Malibu, Chef Chico joins Nobu KL as its head sushi chef.

“When I started working for Nobu, that’s when I said to myself, ‘This will be my career.’ And that’s where my passion for sushi truly started,” said Chef Chico. “Meeting Nobu-san and understanding his philosophy, it’s a class on its own, and I’m excited to continue sharing my passion with guests here at Nobu KL.”

Nobu KL will be celebrating the arrival of Chef Chico with a special “Sushi Bar Omakase,” a vintage Nobu-style omakase with a touch of Chef Chico’s exuberant flair. This one-of-a-kind omakase will provide guests with a chance to interact with this talented chef as he prepares a tantalizing menu that takes you along his incredible Nobu journey.

The culinary journey begins with Nobu-style sashimi, a variety of sushi, a main course, a soup and a satisfyingly sweet dessert. The exclusive menu will incorporate an impressive combination of premium ingredients, such as sea urchin, o-toro, scallop and kinmedai, also known as golden eye snapper.

Freshly sliced and prepared in front of you, the 10-course “Sushi Bar Omakase” menu (RM388+) is only available for dinner on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Nobu KL’s beautifully crafted sushi bar with availability limited to only 11 guests per session.
