[UPDATED 17 MARCH 2020]

Dear French Festival Enthusiasts,

Following the announcement and implementation of a Movement Control Order in Malaysia by the Prime Minister at 10pm on 16 March 2020, it is with deep regret and a heavy heart that Le French Festival 2020 will be cancelled. The order is made under the Prevention & Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988 and Police Act 1967.

This Movement Control Order directly affects Le French Festival during this period as it falls under the category of “general prohibitions of mass movements and gatherings across the country including religious, sports, social and cultural activities.”

In adherence to the announcement, we would also like to inform everyone that our office at Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur (Lorong Gurney) will be officially closed from the 18th-31st of March 2020. Our communication will remain during these times and we are reachable through social media or email.

It is a shame that Le French Festival cannot go on as planned but we must gravitate towards the welfare of the public. We understand that these are uncertain and worrisome times, however, the public’s health and wellbeing is our main priority. This is a global crisis and we should all take extra precautionary measures and do our part as global citizens with social responsibility – to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We remind our audiences to stay safe and vigilant and let’s face this crisis head on with strength and tact, and not succumb to fear and panic.

Le French Festival team will continue to work hard in bringing you the unique events you love and we promise for bigger and bolder lineups for next year’s festival.
