There’s only one thing to do when the sun goes down – find the nearest rooftop bar and cool down with a cocktail or two. This brand new talk of the town is located on level 51 of EQ, the highest floor of the hotel. For in-house guests, access is granted with the hotel key card daily after 3:00 PM by the entrance of the elevators facing the concierge. For non-hotel guests, the only way up is through LG1, where they are greeted by a host who will take them through a private elevator that goes directly to Sky51. Guests are struck by the moment the elevator doors open and immediately transported to a new realm. The obsidian black floor and ceilings are illuminated with spellbinding stretches of starlight embellishments that demand for photos to be taken. Down the hallway, a glowing host table lures guests to floor-to-ceiling windows of the city skyline with one of the best views of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Expect world-class service, crafted cocktails and some of the most exquisite food that exudes luxury from its core with one of the most beautiful and fascinating panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur.

Sabayon is a class of its own. Just as the menu is a nouvelle take on Old World favourites, so are the origins of the name of the restaurant. In the previous Swiss restaurant of Hotel Equatorial, Chalet, the must-have was the Sabayon Du Chalet, which regulars will recognize instantly. This was known as the “dancing dessert” for the parade of restaurant staff who took turns whipping the cold egg-based dish into shape while doing the twist, accompanied by a house band of folk singers. Sabayon will continue to be the venue for celebrations – whether engagements, weddings, anniversaries or with family, this is the place to make unforgettable memories for the new generation.

Elegant high ceilings and dreamy décor accented by copper and bronze tones are embodied by a backdrop of the ever-changing hues of the KL cityscape. Soft and soothing French melodies transcend guests to a different world with a warm ambience. Guests may choose to dine in the private room which can seat a total of 34 adults or in the main dining area with the Twin Towers in view which can accommodate a total of 52 diners.

The kitchen is helmed by Chef Hans Boren, who has over 20 years of experience holding a Michelin star at the helm of Restaurant 28+ in Gothenburg, Sweden. He makes sure that the premium imported ingredients and local artisanal Malaysian products procured live up to his high standards. Preparations for each course require multiple hours of meticulous care with classic cooking methods which ensure that essences are sealed. Patrons can expect genuine food that is authentic in flavour and taste. Each course is simple to understand with distinguished flavours and textures that are bound to bring back memories. Guests know what is presented and each ingredient is cooked and presented in its purest way.

Carefully selected wines are also available and handled with proper storage, taking the type, temperature, humidity, ventilation and darkness all into high consideration. Expect 100 pointer bottles like the 2016 Le Dôme and 2008 Penfolds Grange which are highly sought after every year. Exclusive wine pairing dinners are also held at Sabayon where ambassadors from legendary estates are present. It is much more than just a restaurant – it is an experience.

Blue is one of the highest rooftop speakeasy bar and lounges in Kuala Lumpur. Known as the newest best kept secret in town, this is a complete revamp of the former Blue Moon. Those in their 70’s may remember slow dancing there in the 1980s and 1990s but today, the open-air rooftop speakeasy bar and lounge is designed to cater to both past guests and new patrons. Outdoors, music intensifies to quicken the pulse as the DJ in the upper deck breathes energy into the air. The panoramic view of the city skyline is unequalled, spanning from the KL Tower to the Petronas Twin Towers. A total of 130 guests may occupy this area, not including the iconic private pods which allow for 34 guests in total. This classy open-air sky bar also hides an exclusive upper deck where reservations are essential. This is where the VIP members experience a higher level of partying in private overlooking the city and the crowd uninterruptedly.
