The 90s Are Alive Again: KRU’s Epic GenKRU The Finale One More Time Had It All

What an atmosphere.

What a wave of nostalgia.

What a remarkable night for Malaysian music.

GenKRU The Finale One More Time, held on 22 November 2025, transformed Stadium Hoki Bukit Jalil into a living memory of the 90s. From retro outfits to thousands of voices singing together, the energy felt like a reunion of an entire generation. After four successful shows earlier this year, this grand outdoor finale was the moment everyone had been waiting for, and KRU delivered with dedication, precision and passion.

From the opening number, KRU took the audience on a journey through 24 beloved tracks, showing once again why their music remains timeless after three decades. The setlist balanced high energy anthems, emotional favourites and nostalgic gems, each one sparking memories for fans who grew up with their music.

Our favourite songs of the night included Emilia, Janji Tinggal Janji, Salah Siapa, Freaky G and Terhangat di Pasaran, all of which drew thunderous applause and full stadium sing alongs. It truly felt like 1992 all over again. MC Normy impressed with flawless raps and left the entire stadium wanting more.

A powerful highlight arrived when Rabbani made a surprise appearance, joining KRU on Intifada, a song composed by Edry in the year 2000. Their harmonies added a spiritual depth that momentarily stilled the entire stadium. It was emotional and powerful.

A Stage Filled With Friends, Memories and Music

The night also became a beautiful reunion, featuring appearances by Elite, Adam AF2, and Juliana Banos, who returned after more than 20 years. She closed her segment with a heartfelt performance of Sehidup Semati with Edry. As she sang the final note, the crowd erupted with cheers and warm applause. A surreal and emotional comeback moment.

The concert experience was further enhanced by powerful backing vocals from Dina Nadzir and Mior Zulkarnain, along with electrifying guitar work by guest musicians Edrie Hashim and Ritz Metalasia. Their presence added a dynamic live band feel that made the stage feel truly alive.

Beyond the music, the night carried deep emotional weight.

Despite feeling unwell, Edry still went on stage and completed the entire performance. He later shared that he had been struggling with cramps and extreme fatigue, and even threw up once the show ended. The brothers also revealed that their father, Abdul Halim Kamal, 84, had been in critical condition and admitted to the hospital just days before the concert. They spent the week moving between rehearsals and the hospital, a situation that almost led them to call off the show, Norman explained during the media session after the concert.

Norman added that even though the concert unfolded successfully, there was a lingering sadness within them because their father had hoped to be present that night, but could not attend as he remained under medical care.

Despite these challenges, KRU gave fans everything they had, performing with sincerity, discipline and deep love. It made the night even more meaningful.

A Grand Open Air Finale

Staging the final show in the open air at Stadium Hoki Bukit Jalil created a sense of freedom and scale that perfectly matched the night’s energy. Under the open sky, with fireworks marking the finale, the performance felt celebratory and cinematic. Although the sound was not perfect at certain moments, it remained manageable and the crowd’s energy more than compensated.

Thank you KRU Norman, Yusry and Edry and Icon Entertainment for giving fans a night that felt like a tribute to everything you have built over the past 33 years.

This was not just a concert. It was a celebration of legacy. A heartfelt farewell for now. And a clear declaration that the story is far from over. If this was a finale, it did not mark an ending. It sparked the beginning of the next chapter.

After 33 years, KRU music still moves hearts, still electrifies stages and still shapes generations. Their enduring appeal was further solidified when KRU won the Popular Collaboration/Duo/Group award at ABPBH 37 in 2025. They remain the ultimate trendsetters in Malaysian music, and their legacy rings louder than ever.
