Your October Afternoon Tea Just Turned Pink

It’s October, and that means Pink October is here.

In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre has launched The Pink Hour, a month-long initiative with the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), combining afternoon tea with a little more purpose.

The star of the campaign is of course The Pink Hour Afternoon Tea Set, a pretty spread of handcrafted sweet and savoury bites inspired by the iconic pink ribbon. Among the highlights are Pink Éclair with Cranberry Crémeux, Smoked Chicken with Cranberry Mayo on Soft Milk Bread, Pink Raspberry Cheesecake and Strawberry Mango Petit Gâteau.

They may be dainty, but the portions are not playing around. The selection is surprisingly filling, with enough sweet and savoury treats to make this a proper afternoon affair rather than a decorative nibble.

Priced at MYR178 nett per set, the tea is available daily from 12pm to 5pm throughout October 2026. More importantly, 10 per cent of proceeds from every set sold will go towards NCSM in support of individuals and families affected by breast cancer.

The campaign also brings awareness off the dining table. Marriott Bonvoy members will receive a MYR30 subsidy voucher for a mammogram screening at NCSM, encouraging more women to prioritise regular breast health checks and early detection.

At the campaign launch, Mandy Thoo, Deputy Director of Community Engagement and HELPP, NCSM, and Martin Ehlers, Multi-Property General Manager of Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre and Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, City Centre, officially kicked things off alongside industry and healthcare guests.

Among them was Dr Ng Char Hong, Consultant Breast & Breast Reconstructive Surgeon at Picasso Hospital, who shared insights on breast health and the importance of regular screening. The afternoon also featured a professional breast examination clinic, offering guests practical guidance on self-awareness and early detection.

The most personal moment came from Janagi K. Guruswamy, a breast cancer survivor and Guest of Honour, who shared her journey of resilience and recovery.

So, yes, there is a pink éclair involved. There is also cheesecake, tea and a table worth gathering around. But The Pink Hour is ultimately about something bigger: enjoying a lovely afternoon while helping keep an important conversation going.

The Pink Hour Afternoon Tea Set is available daily at R Bar throughout October 2026.
