BERLIN, 8 March 2012 – A taxi campaign involving 200 taxis wrapped and branded with Malaysian images, was launched at the world’s biggest travel trade exhibition, International Tourism Bourse (ITB) here Thursday.
The eye-catching images, showing the sunny beach paradise and orang utans in a stunning jungle setting with the rafflesia – the largest flower in the world, give Malaysia the opportunity to stand out from the other more than 188 countries which are exhibiting at ITB.
Tourism Minister Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen led a delegation of 57 organisations at the taxi campaign launched on Thursday morning in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
ITB, will last until Sunday (11 March), is an ideal platform to showcase Malaysia to the public as well as to the travel trade. Visitors to the German capital will get a feeling on Malaysia’s tourism industry for a month from the exciting branding campaign.
Malaysia received 24,7 million visitors in 2011. Germany is an important source market for Malaysia with 124,670 visitors in 2011. For 2012, a number of strategic marketing and PR campaigns are set to further establish Malaysia as a destination for German tourists. Especially topics like nature, eco-tourism, cultural and sustainable tourism are highlights of Malaysian tourism.
