Find out what you can do at Desaru Coast under the sun!
Recently, Desaru Coast hosted Round Two of the Kiteboard Tour Asia (KTA) Asia Pacific Hydrofoil Series (http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/) that ran from 14 until 16 December 2018. This marks the Malaysia’s first ever feat in staging this newly exposed type of water sports that is rapidly gaining attention from athletes worldwide, which is a combination (or a ‘milkshake’ as described by local champion Daniel Leow) of wakeboarding, surfing, windsurfing, snowboarding, paragliding, and skateboarding.
The competition has attracted 40 registered riders – both KTA regulars and new faces – from 18 different countries, who went head to head on Desaru Beach for the title. But in the end, Maximillion Maeder (Singapore) proved his class by winning the championship after a series of stunning performances over three days of racing, hence, walked away with USD 5,000 of prize money. Coming in second, was Daniel Leow who won Round 1 of the series in Koh Samui in last June, and was closely followed by Thailand’s Whatcharpong Juntham. Emi Hirada from Japan was crowned as the champion in the women’s division, while Thailand’s Fon Benyapa Jantawan followed closely in second place.
KTA is part of the “Desaru Coast Live Series” programme, which intends to enhance the destination’s international appeal through sports, lifestyle and entertainment activities. For those who are interested in water sports, look out for more updates from Desaru Coast (https://desarucoast.com/) for future events such as this.
And although the KTA tournament is already over this year, adrenaline junkies can continue hanging out at the beach with Dash Outdoors (https://www.dashoutdoors.com.my/), an outdoor sports specialist that is present at Desaru Coast to provide various activities ranging from family-friendly all the way to the extreme. Be rest assured that the staff members are professionally trained to keep guests safe. For a fun-filled and memorable experience, Dash Outdoors directors recommend Banana Boat, Zorb Ball, wakeboarding and standing paddleboarding, which should not only be tried by children but also adults! On top of that, children can also turn their fantasies into reality by partaking in sand towing and pedal boating.
Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark
Living in Malaysia affords residents with year-round tropical climate and condition them to be a fan of water parks. Flushing down a vertical water slide and spiralling away into a course of funnel slides will surely bring out the inner-child of even the most jaded adults. Then scream your lungs out with one of the only water roller coasters on the Kraken Revenge that plunges riders into intense laps of wet-dry exhilaration!
Children are provided with a feast of activities at their own area within the water park. Numerous children-safe slides are spotted with big flush bucket to increase the level of excitement.
There is also the tidal wave, which is an artificial beach for some family-friendly coastal relaxation. The waves can get up to three metres high and all participants must wear life jackets for safety. Be sure to stick close to your friends and families and get swept away by the too-good-to-be-true tidal waves. The water park offers so much more and really, the only way to experience it is to be there yourself!
