HO CHI MINH CITY, 21 SEPT 2015 – AirAsia continues to contribute towards youth and talent development and fulfilling dreams by supporting “Journey to Homeland Project”; Cycling from the UK to Malaysia’ – a project organized by Malaysian youths in their mission to cycle from the United Kingdom back to Malaysia.
Muhammad Adib Mohamad Ali, 26, Mohd Azrulhan Mohd Shaful, 26 and Amirul Alis bin Ali, 32, arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Sunday 20th September in full AirAsia cycling kit. They were greeted by their parents and family members who flew in with AirAsia to Ho Chi Min City yesterday from Kuala Lumpur .

We are impressed with their determination to complete the mission to cycle across 21 countries, waving the Malaysian Flag while spreading a healthy and positive message, demonstrating both physical and mental stability. “They recently cycled their way through China and we are delighted to fly their family members to Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam is one of our favorite destinations and we thought it would be the perfect place for their family to provide motivation and emotional support as they continue their journey back to Malaysia. Over 17,000 AirAsia Allstars are cheering for the cyclists and we wish them all the best!,” she added.
The cyclists started their journey in August 2014 and so far crossed 18 out of 21 countries planned throughout this Journey to Homeland project. They are expected to complete their mission by the end of 2015.
From Ho Chi Minh City, the cyclists will continue their journey to Phnom Penh, Cambodia and make their way to Bangkok before heading down to Hat Yai, Thailand. They are scheduled to enter Malaysia through Padang Besar and cycle their way from north Malaysia heading towards their final stop in Kuala Lumpur.
AirAsia has been involved in numerous sports development initiatives for the benefit of youths by creating opportunities, providing the platform to achieve success and recognize their own strengths and potential. Most importantly, AirAsia has enabled various athletes to realize their dreams to compete at the highest levels such as Zulfahmi Khairuddin, MotoGP rider and international squash player Low Wee Wern.
AirAsia has also initiated the very first AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search 2015 in collaboration with KL Fashion Week to provide the right platform for young designers to showcase their talent and kickstart their career in the fashion industry. The Top 3 winners were announced during the recent KL Fashion Week Ready to Wear 2015, where all three of them have a secured slot during KL Fashion Week 2016, and a one-year stint with Jovian Mandagie, renowned Malaysian fashion business owner and designer for the Grand Winner.
