Batik Air Adds Miri, Sibu and Bali to Growing Subang Network
KUALA LUMPUR, 13 OCTOBER 2026 – Batik Air is strengthening its presence at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang (SZB) with three new direct services to Miri (MYY), Sibu (SBW) and Bali (DPS), further expanding Subang’s connectivity to East Malaysia and international destinations.
The new services will give travellers more choices to fly directly from Subang, complementing Batik Air’s existing international services from the airport while providing a convenient alternative for passengers who may otherwise travel through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Starting 1 December 2026, Batik Air will operate three weekly services from Subang to Miri and Sibu, connecting the Klang Valley directly with two of Sarawak’s key cities. The Subang–Bali service will commence on 2 December 2026, offering four weekly flights to one of Indonesia’s most popular leisure destinations.
The expansion reflects Batik Air’s continued efforts to build Subang as an important gateway for both domestic and international travel. With an increasing number of services to East Malaysia and regional destinations, passengers can enjoy greater choice and convenience closer to the city.
The new East Malaysia services have been introduced in response to the strong travel and business links between Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak. Miri, an important centre for the energy and services sectors, attracts business travellers as well as visitors travelling for family and leisure. Sibu, meanwhile, is a key commercial centre in central Sarawak, with established connections to business, trade and family travel.
For leisure travellers, Bali provides a popular international option from Subang, particularly for the Greater Klang Valley population of approximately nine million. The direct service offers a more convenient city-centre departure point for holidaymakers, providing an alternative to travelling to KLIA while giving travellers greater flexibility when planning their trips.
Batik Air Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said Subang has strong potential to develop as a convenient gateway for travellers in the Klang Valley, with the airline continuing to support efforts to revitalise and strengthen the airport’s role in Malaysia’s aviation network.
“Subang has an important place in the future of travel in the Klang Valley. As the airport continues to evolve, we see an opportunity to give travellers more choices by connecting them directly to destinations that matter for business, family and leisure travel.
“The addition of Miri and Sibu strengthens our connectivity with East Malaysia, while Bali expands the international choices available from Subang. These are destinations with strong travel potential, and we believe offering them directly from Subang will make journeys more convenient and give travellers an alternative to starting their trips from KLIA.
“Batik Air is committed to supporting the continued development of Subang by progressively building a network that responds to how people want to travel. As we look ahead, we will continue to explore opportunities to connect Subang with more destinations and make the airport an increasingly relevant gateway for travellers in the Klang Valley and beyond,” he added.
With the addition of Miri, Sibu and Bali, Batik Air continues to expand its growing network from Subang, which already connects travellers to destinations including Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta, Penang, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Bharu, Johor Bahru and Langkawi.
The expanded network further strengthens Subang’s role as a convenient gateway for travellers in the Klang Valley, while supporting greater connectivity between Peninsular Malaysia, East Malaysia and regional destinations.
