Kuala Lumpur, 21 March 2018 – Eraman, the largest duty free and travel retail brand under Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, gave away a BMW 318i and prizes worth more than RM330,000 to 54 lucky winners of the Eraman Shopping Extravaganza – Buy & Win Contest at an exclusive prize giving ceremony held today.
It was Miss Tan Ban Ning from Ipoh, Perak and works in the Philippines, who won the grand prize of a brand new BMW 318i, Bally Bag and Petron Fuel Vouchers worth RM3,600, a reward from her total purchase of RM451.89 from Swarovski Boutique (Managed by Eraman) located at Satellite Building, KLIA.
Said an ecstatic Miss Tan upon finding out about his windfall, “At first, I didn’t believe that I have won this grand prize. I thought it was a scam. However after I received a notification email from the organiser, I started to realize that this is real. I believe in luck and it was certainly on my side on this occasion! I wanted to buy a gift for my friend and stopped by the Swarovski Boutique to purchase a few items from the boutique I didn’t expect to win anything but now I am walking away with a luxury car and a year’s worth of fuel by Petron. I felt very happy for this winning”.
Present at the event were also Encik Md Fadzwin Abdul Rahim, Head of Supply Chain, Malaysia Airports (Niaga) Sdn Bhd, Mr Pravinderjeet Singh, Head of Corporate & Direct Sales Sime Darby Auto Bavaria Sdn Bhd, Ms Sandra Tassily, Head of Customer Marketing Asia Pacific Diageo, Mr Danny Chen, Marketing Manager of Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Berhad to witness and give away the prizes to the lucky winners.
“This Eraman Shopping Extravaganza – Buy & Win Contest comprising three phases was launched with the aim of reaching out and connecting with travellers and our loyal customers. Not only that, this contest was targeted to create a joyful experience and reward them by offering bigger and better prizes worth a million ringgit throughout the duration of this contest”, said Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad.
“I’m happy to say that, the second phase of the Buy & Win Contest which started from 1 November until 31 December 2017, attracted more than 170,000 thousand entries with participants from Malaysia, China, India and others. The campaign helped to push Eraman’s revenue to a whopping double-digit growth in December 2017 as compared to 2016. In order to be eligible for this contest, a customer needs to spend a minimum of RM350 in a single receipt,” added Datuk Badlisham during the prize giving ceremony.

Diageo, the owner of the Johnnie Walker brand, was the campaign’s platinum sponsor and offered exclusive discounts of up to 20%on their award winning brands including: the world’s number one blended Scotch whisky Johnnie Walker, Singleton of Glendullan single malt, Cîroc vodka and Tanqueray gin. Additionally, with each purchase shoppers stood a chance to win a trip for two to visit the Johnnie Walker House in Seoul worth RM15000. Travellers were also invited to taste and learn more about these amazing brands at designated Eraman Duty Free stores during the campaign period.
Mr. Vu Tran Bach from Vietnam, who bought Johnnie Walker Double Black to enter the contest, was the lucky winner of the Johnnie Walker mega prize. He commented on his win: “Johnnie Walker is a popular and well regarded brand in my country Vietnam, with so many amazing variants like Red Label, Black Label and Blue Label. So naturally when I visited the duty free store, it was my first choice of purchase! This will also be my first ever trip to South Korea, so I would very much like to thank Johnnie Walker for giving me the opportunity to visit the country and the Johnnie Walker House there.”

The third phase of the Buy & Win Contest will run from April to May 2018 and it will be held at all Eraman participating outlets, except Express at KLIA and klia2 and food and beverage outlets.
“Strengthening our brand within the local and international markets has always been a priority for us. Therefore in conjunction with Eraman’s 25th Anniversary and since its inception on 11 November 1993, Eraman will implement a rebranding initiative which will be rolled out in a co-ordinated approach, covering the website, uniforms and all the way to the stores”, said Datuk Badlisham.
Eraman targets to launch its refreshed brand by quarter three this year in conjunction with the Eraman 25th Anniversary celebrations, one that will increase the impact and consistency of its presence across Malaysia’s airports reinforcing the Eraman brand in the Duty Free and Travel Retail market regionally.
Datuk Badlisham says: “In driving Eraman’s commercial success, we will continue to foster close participation with our brand partners in promotional efforts and ensure the company has the latest products, those that are in demand and trending to cater to all shoppers. We will also invest heavily in more physical and digital marketing assets.
Eraman has built a strong reputation for its value offers to consumers and in support of that strategy, Eraman enjoys particularly good relationships with some of the leading beauty houses. In October 2017, Eraman worked with Dior to introduce an innovative perfumes and cosmetics kiosk at Contact Pier, KLIA. Apart from that Eraman also works directly with renowned perfumes brands such as Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne, Nina Ricci and Valentino under the House of Puig to get a much closer collaboration. Eraman is looking forward to bring in a few big names such as M.A.C Cosmetics, Gucci and Joe Malone into the company’s portfolio. Eraman will further add more brands to their perfumes and cosmetics portfolio later this year to cater the fast-growing numbers of tourists from China, Japan and Korea that helps to buoy sales growth.
Eraman recorded a 20% growth of passenger by destination (China) for Year-To-Date November 2017 from the previous year. Apart from having consumers enjoy price discounts when shopping, Eraman prides itself in giving ease and convenience to shoppers when making payments. In June 2017 all Eraman retail and F&B outlets and lifestyle stores in KLIA and klia2 started accepting Alipay to cater to the ever growing Chinese customers. By August 2017 all Eraman and other retail and F&B outlets located in other airports were also fully enabled to accept Alipay payments.
On top of a strategic partnership with Alipay and other partners such as Union Pay International, Eraman is also looking into collaborations with Banks in China and potentially, other mobile payment and digital wallet service providers.
Eraman has also started upgrading its stores where possible, refreshing store layouts and bringing in new activations. In March 2017, Eraman had opened Express, a newly renovated and rebranded store in KLIA followed by another opening of Express at Arrival Hall, klia2. The company also expanded its food and beverage franchise business under the Gloria Jeans Coffee brand with two kiosks opening in August last year located at Level 3 International Arrival Hall and Level 5 International Departure Hall of KLIA.
With all these initiatives, Eraman managed to contribute a significant portion on Airport Operations Business to its parent company Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad of 18.4%.
