KUALA LUMPUR – The Halal Holiday, an online travel marketplace, was launched on 11 July 2019 with the objective of catering to Muslim travellers’ faith-based needs when travelling.

Halal Holiday founder Abdul Rahman Mohd Ali said this online marketplace serves as a solution for Muslim travellers who are concerned over their safety, access to halal food and freedom to practice their faith while travelling.

“Through Halal Holiday, we aim to attract more tour companies to join us where they will be given training on catering to the needs of Muslim travellers,” Abdul Rahman mentioned.

“There is no competition between travel agents through this marketplace as it is more of a collaboration that benefits participating agents, local and international,” he continued.

“Halal Holiday is also open to non-Muslim travel agents as well, as long as they follow the service’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP),” Abdul Rahman further ensured.

Halal Holiday works closely with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) and Persatuan Agensi Pelancongan Umrah dan Haji (PAPUH), but according to Abdul Rahman “it is not compulsory for the registered members from both associations to register with the marketplace.”

“We are confident that Halalholiday.com can cater to the influx of a new breed of young Muslim travellers with a burning desire to explore the world confidently while still adhering to their faiths during travel,” said Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) Director General, Datuk Seri Abd Khani Daud, who delivered the launching speech on behalf of the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi.

“The future of Muslim travel is clearly sustainable and scalable. It is indeed a global mega-trend that will have a huge impact on us,” he added.

“This initiative will also help the Muslim-friendly tourism sector to grow even more,” he noted.

Halal Holiday (www.halalholiday.com) offers six types of services, including umrah packages, inbound holidays, outbound holidays, cruise getaways, hotels and airlines booking.
