Oakwood Cameron Highlands: A Quietly Sophisticated Highland Escape Amid Nature’s Embrace

Perched above rolling fairways and mist-kissed mountains, Oakwood Cameron Highlands redefines the modern highland retreat with stylish comforts, calming scenery, and heartfelt hospitality, making it one of the most refreshing new hotels and stays in Cameron Highlands, Pahang.

The Gaya Travel Magazine team recently luxuriate in the tasteful ambience of Oakwood Cameron Highlands, the latest hospitality gem to grace Cameron Highlands in Pahang, one of the most beloved highland and cool-weather destinations in Malaysia.

Gracefully overlooking the verdant Sultan Ahmad Shah Golf Club, this substantial highland sanctuary effortlessly combines cosiness, style, and serenity, making it an appealing choice for families, couples, and urban dwellers yearning for a restorative escape amid the cool mountain air of Cameron Highlands.

Designed to Embrace the Beauty of Cameron Highlands

What immediately captivates the team about Oakwood Cameron Highlands is how thoughtfully the property embraces its surrounding natural landscape. The hotel’s bright, airy interiors are intentionally designed to frame the breathtaking vistas outside, from the immaculately manicured 18-hole golf course and the rolling hills of Golden Hills to the lush green mountains that stretch into the distance beneath the enveloping highland mist.

The architecture itself feels refreshingly well-poised and understated with clean modern lines, yet still pays tribute to the destination’s British colonial past in the form of white and black Tudor-like paint scheme of its façade, the arched entryways, and nostalgic lamps with shades fixed onto the hotel’s interior raised-panel-style wainscoted walls found around the lobby and waiting area.

Unlike many urban hotels in Malaysia, Oakwood Cameron Highlands does not rely on air-conditioning units. Thanks to Cameron Highlands’ delightfully cool climate throughout the year, the gentle breeze and ceiling fans are more than sufficient to provide excellent thermal comfort, allowing guests to feel more connected to the refreshing highland environment. In fact, this thoughtful and environmentally friendly design approach contributes greatly to the calming atmosphere that permeates the entire property.

Spacious Serviced Residence-Style Rooms in Cameron Highlands

The accommodation units are spacious, stylish, and wonderfully practical, feeling more like refined serviced residences than ordinary hotel rooms. The team is amazed at the hotel’s two-bedroom units, which come complete with a washer-dryer and induction cooker, making them perfect for longer stays, family holidays, and extended highland getaway in Cameron Highlands. However, guests should not fret if they do not get the chance to stay at any of the two-bedroom units because the other rooms – despite not having washer-dryer and induction cooker – are no less gratifying.

Large windows invite abundant natural light into the rooms while simultaneously drawing guests’ attention outward to the soothing scenery beyond. The rest-inducing beds, soft lighting, contemporary furnishings, and polished residential touches make every stay feel deeply restful, cosy, and homely.

Equally commendable is the hotel’s environmentally conscious approach. Every floor features a conveniently located water dispenser in the public area, thoughtfully reducing dependence on single-use plastic drinking bottles while encouraging more sustainable travel habits – a small yet meaningful gesture towards protecting Cameron Highlands’ natural environment.

Tip: For guests who particularly adore waking up to sweeping fairway and golf course views, be sure to reserve the ‘Premier’ rooms, which directly overlook the golf course. The other room categories, meanwhile, present the views of Golden Hills and the surrounding Cameron Highlands mountains.

Encouraging Guests to Go Out of Their Rooms

Mind you, Oakwood Cameron Highlands does not feature a swimming pool; however, this fact turns out to be part of its unique charm because the hotel subliminally prods guests to venture out and discover the many attractions that continue to make Cameron Highlands one of Malaysia’s most popular highland tourism destinations.

The lively Golden Hills night market on every Friday and Saturday, the popular Kea Farm, the iconic BOH Tea Plantation, and the mystical Mossy Forest are all easily accessible from the property, ensuring there is always something delightful waiting nearby for travellers and nature lovers alike.

Alternatively, guests who want to sweat it out without leaving the hotel can head to the hotel’s compact yet well-equipped gym on level 13A, where they can also find the token-operated laundrette for washing and drying clothes, including the segregated male and female Muslim prayer rooms.

Oaklounge: Where Time Slows Down Beautifully

Meanwhile, Oaklounge — perched on Level 15 and accessible via the staircase from Level 13A — becomes the team’s favourite haunt. This elevated sanctuary offers one of the most rewarding vantage points in the hotel, making it the perfect setting to luxuriate in the property’s sumptuous Afternoon Tea Set for Two while admiring the panoramic scenery of Cameron Highlands.

The delicious salmon and panini finger sandwiches – which are part of the Afternoon Tea Set – go well with the cool highland weather and sweeping views beyond.

It must be said that at Oaklounge, time seems to slow down. Between laughter, meaningful conversations, warm tea, and mesmerising views across the golf course and misty hills, the team members find themselves completely immersed in the restorative rhythm and idyllic charm of Cameron Highlands.

A Bolthole That Restores Balance and Peace of Mind

To the members of the Gaya Travel Magazine team, besides Oaklounge, simply relaxing within the confines of the room while admiring the surrounding landscape is already enough to restore balance and peace of mind; there is something deeply therapeutic about watching clouds drift lazily across the mountains while inhaling the crisp Cameron Highlands air from the comforts of hotel’s interiors.

Overall, Oakwood Cameron Highlands succeeds not merely as a place to stay, but as an up-to-date highland pied-a-terre that gently reconnects guests with calmness, snugness, relaxation, and nature.

Quietly elegant, refreshingly fuss-free, environmentally mindful, and wonderfully welcoming, this hotel has undoubtedly become one of the team’s favourite accommodation addresses in Cameron Highlands, Pahang.

Truth be told, the Gaya Travel Magazine team is already looking forward to returning soon for yet another much-deserved Cameron Highlands getaway, with Oakwood Cameron Highlands in mind as our accommodation of choice, of course…
