Sabah Fest 2012, a Handicraft and Food Showcase will also be held at the Outdoor and Gallery area of Kompleks JKKNS located at Jalan Penampang. The Handicraft and Food showcase will be held from 10.00am to 10.00pm from 3 to 5 May 2012. Craft makers from all over the state will be there demonstrating the production of handicrafts such as traditional tapestries by Sirungan binti Sulaiman from Kota Belud, bamboo musical instruments by George Nuli form Kota Belud and Philipus Jani from Tambunan, miniature lepa-lepa by Haji Alpaka Hamah from Semporna and bead accessories by Nonjiring Montoku from Kudat and many more.
Established art and handicraft institutions including Sabah Art Gallery, Kraftangan Malaysia, Kadaiku – Sabah Souvenirs and Handicrafts, Mayuri House of Art, RF Collections featuring Sabah Pearls, and Olumis Batik showcasing Sabah batik, will also be opening up exhibition booths to showcase their products. Visitors will also be in for a real treat as food and beverage entrepreneurs will also be at the event to highlight some of Sabah’s best traditional food and signature dishes.
A range of local products from chocolate to ice cream, honey, tea, coffee and cocoa can be sampled. The Bajau, Kadazandusun and Brunei Sabah cultural associations will highlight their traditional signature delicacies with exciting flavours and aromas to excite the palate.
