Exchange Friendship and Network through ASEAN Art, Culture and Tourism
On 1 October 2015, the Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation held the first ever ASEAN Cultural Heritage Exchange Day with the theme “Exchange Friendship and Network through ASEAN Art, Culture and Tourism” at the Kenyir Elephant Conservation Village, Lake Kenyir Terengganu.
The event was graced by Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Al-Wathiqu Billah Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.
The purpose of the event is to preserve the ASEAN arts heritage and educate the public regarding it. The event was attended by delegates from Asian countries such as Thailand, China, Myammar and Singapore to strengthen relationships and boost economic growth.
Royal Foundation Board Trustee YB Dato’ Haji Mohd Fadzli Yusof mentioned in his speech that besides the arts, heritage and culture, Sultan Mizan is also interested in seeing Lake Kenyir and the Kenyir Elephant Conservation Village become top of mind destination and attraction among international tourists.
He further added that the state authorities and Kuala Terengganu City Council should also give more commitment towards conserving and maintaining Lake Kenyir as a designated forest reserve that is sure to attract local and foreign nature enthusiasts.
The ASEAN Cultural Heritage Exchange Day also fostered better understanding among participating countries as a way to strengthen cultural ties that would eventually lead to stronger unity and trade among the ASEAN member countries.
The Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation is the brainchild of the Sultan himself, representing his dedication towards the development of Terengganu’s tourism, arts, culture, heritage, natural environment conservation and social wellbeing.
