Cathay Pacific Treats 30 Underprivileged Children to a Fun-filled Outing at Brahims Airline Catering
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program, Cathay Pacific Airways treated thirty orphans and underprivileged children from House of Joy in Puchong to an enjoyable outing to the Brahims Airline Catering (BAC) building, located in the vicinity of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The memorable excursion was organized together with 4Charity, a charitable online portal that reaches out to several charity organizations, including House of Joy.
The children, together with their guardians and volunteers from Cathay Pacific were given a warm welcome before being taken on a tour of the facilities at BAC by Mr. Kumar Nair. They were given an opportunity to enter the cold rooms where meats and seafood are stored, view the food preparation areas, kitchen areas as well as try out Brahims’ signature chicken satay.
Executive Pastry Chef Scott Belfield then proceeded to guide the children with a hands-on cookie-baking demonstration where he taught them how to bake two types of cookies – chocolate chip and macadamia nut using simple yet delicious recipes.

Dinner was served at the café of BAC. The children were delighted to be served a Cathay Pacific in-flight meal, with a choice of either chicken with noodles or fish with steamed rice, complemented with a soft roll, fruits, a chocolate bar and juice. The meals were personally served by Cathay Pacific’s new Country Manager for Malaysia and Brunei, Ms. Mary Chan, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair Penang Manager Mr. Clement Lau and volunteers from the airline.
“Our objective is to put smiles on the faces of the children and their guardians by taking them on a never-before-experienced group excursion. We believe that these children have great futures in store for them and they need the support in order for them to broaden their horizons. Cathay Pacific is a caring brand that seeks opportunities to add values to the lives of people around us,” said Mary.
The group then proceeded to the Viewing Gallery of KLIA to watch the landing and taking off of aircrafts.
At the end of the tiring but exciting trip, House of Joy presented Cathay Pacific and BAC with “thank you” posters which were handwritten by the children. They also went home with souvenirs and memorabilia courtesy of Cathay Pacific and BAC.
