Club Med Invites You To Be “Teleported” To Its Resorts Through Virtual Reality And 360° Videos

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 April 2016 – Club Med is the first global tourism operator to present a collection of 360° videos showcasing its resorts, providing a novel and interactive experience of immersive virtual reality. This 360° technology is deployed at global level on the Club Med YouTube channel and Facebook page, as part of communication operations and in Club Med Voyages travel agents equipped with the Samsung Gear VR headset.

Discover the Club Med resorts through total immersion before your holidays

To enrich the customer experience, Club Med is developing 360° videos in partnership with TF1 Production and Digital Immersion.

With these videos, clients can feel “teleported” to the heart of the resort and visit the most beautiful locations, view the rooms, check out the sports activities and meet the G.O.s waiting to greet them.

This experience enables them to immerse themselves in Club Med’s friendly, premium world and get a preview of their future holiday when selecting their destination.

Global deployment covering many resorts

Four resorts are already under the spotlight: Kani (Maldives), Finolhu Villas (Maldives), Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and Peisey-Vallandry (French Alps).

These 360° videos are already available on the Club Med YouTube channel and Facebook page, and can be experienced as Virtual Reality in Club Med Voyages travel agents equipped with the Samsung Gear VR headset. This is the case in Geneva, Brussels, Moscow and the apartment-agency on the Champs Elysees in Paris.

The videos are also used to enhance communication operations: a Street Marketing campaign in Canada, tourism trade shows in Australia and Singapore, or directly, with cardboard headsets sent to several thousand customers who are able to try out the virtual reality 360° films on their smartphones.

These 360° videos will soon be deployed to other resorts like Cancun Yucatan (Mexico), Val Thorens Sensations (France) and Sanya (new seaside resort in China)

To further enrich the customer experience, Club Med also intends to “scan” its resorts using Google Street View technology. Finolhu Villas were in fact the first resort in the Maldives to be present in 360° on Google.
