KUALA LUMPUR, 21 AUGUST 2024– Calling all Japan travellers! Japan National Tourism Organization Kuala Lumpur Office (JNTO KL) is thrilled to announce its support for Malaysian anime lovers by participating in AniManGaki, held from 23rd to 25th August 2024 at Mines International Exhibition & Convention Centre, Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

AniManGaki, one of Malaysia’s largest anime events, was established in 2009. It is an exciting event that gathers thousands of animation (anime), comics, and games (ACG) enthusiasts each year. This time, JNTO KL is collaborating with the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia and the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) to participate in the anime festival for the first time ever! The aim is to promote the amazing culture of Japan to Malaysians by offering a variety of Japanese workshops, exhibitions and displays.

With this triple collaboration, not only will the visitors at AniManGaki be able to partake in unique Japanese experiences such as learning Kendo (a Japanese martial art), wearing a yukata, and playing Igo and Shogi (Japanese chess) amongst many other activities; they will also be able to obtain free consultation on travel information regarding Japan, in order to explore interesting destinations of Japan and better plan their travels to Japan!

“We are glad that Japanese anime culture has always had a significance on Malaysians. Such events symbolise the strong connection between Japan and Malaysia, displaying the enthusiasm and shared passion of Malaysians towards Japanese works of anime, games, manga and Japanese art. We are aware of how one’s love for Japanese anime, games, manga, and art can influence where one wishes to travel in Japan! In fact, we highly welcome Malaysians to explore and seek out beautiful and unique ‘anime scene’ places in Japan, made popular by big hit animations such as “Your Name” and many more,” said Executive Director of JNTO KL, Mr Kenichiro Ozaki.

Additionally, JNTO KL continues to support Malaysia travellers bound for Japan with their participation in MATTA Fair which will be held from 6th to 8th September 2024 at Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur.

“2024 continues to be an exciting year for those visiting Japan as there have been so many new activities, attractions and accommodations for everyone to experience. We have been receiving so many requests and inquiries from Malaysians about travelling to Japan, and being at MATTA Fair is always a wise choice for us to address and understand the travellers’ needs and wants. This time, we have a total of 16 Japanese exhibitors participating in this MATTA Fair to match the keen demand we anticipate by Malaysians seeking to travel to Japan. I would like to warmly welcome everyone to visit the Japan Pavilion for more information,” said Executive Director of JNTO KL, Mr Keichiro Ozaki.

Visitors to the MATTA Fair who purchase Japan travel products at MATTA Fair or answer the questionnaires at the event can redeem their complimentary gift at the Japan Pavilion while stock last.
