ASAI Gamuda Cove: A Pragmatic, Nature-Inspired Stay Near KLIA

The largest ASAI hotel to date and the brand’s first outside a city neighbourhood, ASAI Gamuda Cove brings together 280 contemporary rooms, Malaysian-Thai dining, a wetlands-facing infinity pool, and easy access to Paya Indah Wetlands and SplashMania Waterpark. Just 20 minutes from KLIA, it is a fuss-free escape where nature, comfort, and convenience happily coexist.

On 10 October 2026, Thailand’s Dusit Hotels and Resorts together with Malaysian property developer Gamuda Land launched ASAI Gamuda Cove, the ASAI brand’s first hotel in Malaysia. Its proposition is refreshingly straightforward: comfortable accommodation, accessible rates, and meaningful connections with the destination. No unnecessary frills and grand performance; the hotel mainly focusses on things that make a getaway enjoyable, with a few pleasant surprises along the way.

This 14-storey property is ASAI’s fourth operating hotel, joining ASAI Bangkok Chinatown and ASAI Bangkok Sathorn in Thailand, and ASAI Kyoto Shijo in Japan. Located within Gamuda Land’s 1,530-acre Gamuda Cove township, around 20 minutes by car from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the hotel is conveniently positioned for visitors heading to Sepang International Circuit too.

For travellers seeking a hotel near KLIA, families planning a SplashMania adventure, or Kuala Lumpur residents craving a change of scenery without an elaborate travel itinerary, ASAI Gamuda Cove makes a persuasive case. Sometimes, a holiday need not involve airport queues, excessive luggage, or an itinerary that requires military precision.

Live Local, Stay Connected

According to General Manager Mr. Bob Yusof, the name ASAI derives from Thai and conveys the ideas of belonging, relying on others, and living. This philosophy aligns with Gamuda Land’s ambition to see the hotel evolve alongside the wider township and its community.

The intention is to create a lively base where guests can stay, eat, meet, and explore, rather than simply check in, shut the curtains, and disappear until checkout.

ASAI’s “Live Local” philosophy combines functional rooms, communal spaces, uplifting dining, and opportunities to discover the surrounding neighbourhood. At Gamuda Cove, that means a staycation with an appealing mixture of nature, recreation, and convenience.

A stone’s throw from the hotel is Paya Indah Wetlands, a 1,111-acre gazetted nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary managed by Gamuda Land under an agreement involving the federal and Selangor state governments. Visitors can explore its freshwater landscapes, observe wildlife, and experience a side of Selangor that feels a world away from the city’s traffic and concrete.

Adjacent to the reserve is the 90-acre Wetlands Arboretum, fully owned and operated by Gamuda Land. Its living tree museum, walking routes, birdwatching opportunities, and environmental learning activities offer further ways to appreciate the area’s biodiversity.

For more energetic pursuits, SplashMania Waterpark, with 39 slides and attractions, promises a thoroughly different sort of aquatic adventure. Nearby Discovery Park adds outdoor recreation and entertainment, while Kelab Tani clubhouse, within walking distance, offers additional leisure facilities and event space.

An electric tram network connects the hotel with Discovery Park, SplashMania, and key destinations around the township, helping guests move between attractions without relying entirely on private vehicles.

The result is a destination that accommodates several holiday personalities: the nature enthusiast, the thrill-seeking child, the parent seeking five minutes of peace, and the traveller who considers doing leisure activity.

Functional Chic: Comfort Without the Fuss

Gaya Travel Magazine admires ASAI Gamuda Cove’s contemporary, minimalist design, which favours practicality over unnecessary ostentation. The hotel does not appear determined to impress you with things you cannot use. Instead, it gets straight to the point.

The spacious lobby features a striking triple-height ceiling, generous natural light, ergonomic seating, and modular square sofas that create the atmosphere of an expansive living room. Guests can settle in with a book, catch up on work, or simply watch the world go by. A long communal table with integrated cable management and individual chairs provides a convenient spot for meetings and collaborative work.

Three large-scale commissioned artworks by emerging Malaysian artist Tan Ken Ming inject colour and personality into the lobby. Each artwork is strategically positioned behind the reception counter, near the self-check-in station, and beside the elevator leading to the parking area, giving the otherwise restrained interiors a distinctive local character.

After check-in, speedy lifts whisk guests upstairs to 280 thoughtfully planned rooms and suites. Accommodation options range from compact rooms for solo travellers and couples to balcony rooms, bunk-bed configurations, and a two-room family category accommodating up to six guests.

Selected rooms overlook the wetlands, and these are worth considering if waking up to greenery sounds considerably more appealing. All rooms feature fast Wi-Fi, smart televisions, walk-in showers, and practical storage.

Based on Gaya Travel Magazine’s stay, the beds strike a pleasing balance between firmness and comfort, with pillows that provide welcome neck support. Multiple-standard power sockets are another practical touch, reducing the need to pack travel adaptors. Small conveniences, perhaps, but these are precisely the things one appreciates when travelling.

There is also a clever space-saving arrangement: in most room categories, the sink sits outside the bathroom, leaving more room for showering and using the toilet. The coffee- and tea-making facilities are positioned next to it, making it easier to rinse cups and glasses. It is an uncomplicated design decision that makes daily routines smoother.

A Pool with a View and More

On Level 3, an infinity pool overlooking the wetlands offers a welcome place to cool off, accompanied by a separate children’s pool, both open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For your information, ASAI Gamuda Cove is the first property under the brand to offer a swimming pool.

Right next to the pool is a cosy indoor space called ‘Lepaq’ – a play of the Malay word lepak, which means ‘hanging out’ or ‘chilling’ – where guests can relax, unwind, watch television, and play board games. Adjacent to it is the compact 24-hour gym, accessible using guests’ key cards, catering to those who prefer not to abandon their exercise routines simply because they are travelling. The facilities make it easy to alternate between sightseeing, chilling, working out, and doing absolutely nothing beside the water.

Still on Level 3, guests can find co-working areas and flexible meeting and event spaces capable in accommodating up to 100 people, which appeal to business travellers and organisations intending to hold intimate functions or gatherings.

There is even a filtered-water refill station too, and another one on Level 7 for convenience.

Malaysian Comfort Meets Thai Flavour

Food is central to the ASAI Gamuda Cove experience, with three dining venues bringing together Malaysian favourites, Thai-inspired flavours, and familiar international dishes.

The main restaurant, Nasi & Khao, serves all-day dining in a relaxed setting. Its menu draws on the shared comfort-food traditions of Malaysia and Thailand, making it an inviting choice whether you arrive hungry after exploring the wetlands or simply want a satisfying meal without leaving the hotel. The menu offers enough variety to encourage culinary exploration without making dinner feel like an examination.

Recommended dishes include Spicy Seafood Salad, with fresh seafood, herbs and a zesty chilli-lime dressing; Spiced Lamb Soup with Lamb Bon Bon; and Grouper Fish with Rice Vermicelli in a soothing savoury broth.

For a taste of local heritage, try Ikan Baung Masak Tempoyak, comprising freshwater catfish cooked in a tangy fermented durian and chilli gravy. Chicken Roulade offers a more familiar international option, while the ASAI Signature Fried Rice brings wok-hei character to a dependable favourite.

Tea Shop provides a welcoming setting for curated teas and light bites from morning until late, suitable for a casual catch-up or a quiet pause between activities. Meanwhile, the Pool Bar on Level 3 serves refreshments, snacks, and handcrafted cocktails alongside views of the infinity pool and Paya Indah Wetlands.

Your Next Easy Escape

ASAI Gamuda Cove succeeds by understanding that a satisfying getaway does not have to be complicated or expensive. Its appeal lies in the combination of functional accommodation, locally inspired dining, welcoming communal spaces, and easy access to nature and family attractions.

Spend the morning exploring Paya Indah Wetlands, devote the afternoon to SplashMania, then return for a swim, a comforting Malaysian meal, or a quiet drink overlooking the greenery. Alternatively, you can choose to do very little beyond enjoying the room and the change of scenery – the hotel is unlikely to judge you.

For families, couples, solo travellers, and Klang Vallley residents seeking a convenient staycation, ASAI Gamuda Cove offers a refreshing alternative to the usual city-hotel routine. Its proximity to KLIA and Sepang International Circuit also makes it a sensible base for travellers with flights to catch or high-octane events to attend.

Come for the wetlands, stay for the pool, eat your way through the menu, and leave with a little more breathing space. At ASAI Gamuda Cove, living locally might just be the easiest way to feel wonderfully far away…
