Malaysia Airlines Named Best Airline Staff in Asia at 2026 Skytrax Awards

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept. 19, 2026 — Malaysia Airlines has been named Best Airline Staff in Asia at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, while its cabin crew ranked third globally in the World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew category, rising five places from eighth in 2025.

The airline also climbed six places to 21st in the World’s Best Airline category, continuing its upward movement across the global rankings. It recorded gains in several other categories, including World’s Best Airport Services, where it rose from sixth to second, and World’s Best Economy Class Airlines, where it moved from 16th to 12th.

Malaysia Airlines also debuted at 18th in World’s Best Business Class Airlines and moved up to 11th in World’s Cleanest Airline from 12th previously. The carrier retained its place among the Top 10 Best Airlines in Asia, ranking 10th this year.

Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), attributed the recognition to the collective efforts of employees across the airport, onboard and behind the scenes in delivering Malaysian Hospitality throughout the customer journey.

Over the past two years, Malaysia Airlines has introduced a range of customer experience enhancements covering cabin comfort, inflight dining and cabin crew service. These include expanded hospitality training, strengthened service standards, refreshed cabin crew grooming, personalised pilot farewell greetings and enhanced Business Class and Business Suite amenities such as pyjamas.

The airline has also expanded its family-focused offerings and refreshed its inflight dining programme, introducing monthly menu rotations and more than 30 new menu offerings over the past year, including Vegetarian Satay and Cendol Ice Cream.

Fleet renewal remains part of the airline’s wider transformation, with 29 new aircraft received to date and plans to build a fleet of 117 modern aircraft by 2035. Malaysia Airlines’ year-to-date on-time performance is averaging 91.38 per cent, according to the release.

The developments form part of MAG’s Long-Term Business Plan 3.0, which sets an ambition for Malaysia Airlines to rank among the Top 10 Global Airlines by 2030. The plan focuses on continued investment in products, fleet, network, operations and customer experience.

As a member of the oneworld alliance, Malaysia Airlines currently offers connectivity to more than 900 destinations across 170 territories worldwide.
