Philea Resort and Spa Melaka Staff Roll Up Sleeves to Help the Community
Melaka, Malaysia, 8th January 2015 – About 30 team members from Philea Resort and Spa Melaka were mobilised to give their time in service of others at Wings Melaka in Tengkera to demonstrate its commitment to community.
This is the first CSR initiative to kick start the year 2015 with a clean-up campaign that has been a month in the planning. Celebrating community and its people is a long-standing culture of Philea to help grow thriving communities where we live and work.
The objective of this initiative is to show care for the special needs children in our community and to provide them a comfortable learning environment. The campaign was organized before they return from school breaks on 8th January 2015. It started at 10.30am and took about six hours to clean up a double storey ancient building, including its air-conditioners, ceiling fans, window frames, toilets, kitchen, pantry and teacher’s offices.
“Apart from taking care of our guests, it has been Philea’s culture to constantly serve the community around us. I am delighted that our teams were active in their communities by spending their precious time away from works volunteering to help others for a good cause. It does not matter how small the campaign is, as long as the aim is for the betterment of the communities. This effort also directly helped Wings Melaka saved from outsourcing it to the cleaning agency and contractor,” mentioned Lim Beng Weh, the resort’s General Manager.
“We are very thankful to the resort’s team and management and it is truly a provision from God who send forth his angel to work alongside with us. They have blessed us with a great team spirit, love and compassion for community work to kick start our ministry in year 2015. Thumbs up for the great effort!” said Chan Saw Si, the Manager of Wings Melaka.
