SRI KEMBANGAN, SELANGOR – Selangor is basking in the glory after winning the ‘Destination of the Year‘ award at the at the Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC) Gold Awards 2018 held at Palace of the Golden Horses, Sri Kembangan Selangor.
General Manager of Tourism Selangor, Madam Hajah Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din said the Tourism Selangor was delighted to be recognised by the Malaysia Tourism Council, which aims to recognise and honour companies and agencies that have been strong supporters of the tourism industry in Malaysia. More than 80 awards were given out to companies and individuals at the prestigious black tie event. These range from Gold Awards for 5 Star Hotels to Tourism Icon of the Year.
“This is a result of the commitment of all to make Selangor as a main tourist destination of excellence, with a diversity of unique offers that extends throughout the territory and that this award is a clear indication that we are on the right track, one that shows the diversity we have to offer, from north to south, from the coast to the interior. The volume of tourists to Selangor has been increasing annually and this has enabled Selangor to gain greater exposure and visibility for destination of the year.” She said.
This award showcases some of the most outstanding examples that Selangor State Government focuses especially in terms of sustainable tourism practise. The judges also looked for all-round excellence in promoting inbound tourism, verified statistics of yearly growth in tourists served, and evidence of high levels of tourist satisfaction and co-ordinated activities that delivered an increase in tourist arrivals. Last year Selangor contributes 7.4 million domestic and international tourists with revenue RM5.4 billion.
