On April 21, 2017, Daegu Metropolitan City has introduced Daegu as Korea’s current destination for Malaysian travellers to explore due to its potential tourism offerings such as Muslim-friendly restaurant and accommodation, variety of attractions, cuisines and vibrant festivals.
This introduction was made by Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City, Mr. Kwon Youngjin, at the Korea Daegu Night 2017, in conjunction of his visit to Malaysia in building a relationship with Malaysian travel organisations and also promoting Daegu as a tourism destination.
“Daegu is a city that has so much to offer, where it can be summarised as Rich (refers to the origin of global corporation Samsung), Political (known as the City of Presidents) and Beauty (refers to the hometown of fashion and beauty). Not only that, it also has a well-developed transport connections allowing visitors to head towards all locations in Korea,” said Mr. Kwon Youngjin.
Through an effort to increase the number of visitors coming from Malaysia, Daegu Metropolitan City will be developing customized products for tourists including beauty and medical tourism in order to attract Malaysian tourist from various ages.
The event was also attended by several organisations including Daegu Tourism Bureau, Korea Airports Corporation, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia, Korea Tourism Organization and Tourism Malaysia.
