Jordan Tourism Board Welcomes BUMITRA Malaysia Delegation to Promote Halal and Umrah & Hajj Plus Tourism

Amman – As part of its ongoing efforts to expand tourism markets and attract Islamic tourism, the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) welcomed an official delegation from Malaysian travel and tourism offices under the umbrella of BUMITRA Malaysia. The visit took place from April 21 to 27, 2025.

The itinerary included field tours of several prominent Islamic and historical sites, such as the Grand Al-Husseini Mosque in Amman, the shrine of Prophet Shu’ayb, the shrines of the Prophet’s companions in Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi, and the historic Karak Castle. The delegation also visited Petra and Wadi Rum, allowing them to gain firsthand insight into the richness and diversity of Jordan’s tourism offerings.

The JTB organized a Business-to-Business (B2B) networking event that brought together Jordanian travel agencies with their Malaysian counterparts. The aim was to enhance tourism cooperation and present specially tailored travel programs that meet the needs of halal tourism and the Umrah & Hajj Plus segment.

Halal tourism focuses on providing comprehensive travel experiences that cater to Muslim travelers’ needs, including halal food, prayer facilities, and culturally and religiously respectful programs. The Umrah & Hajj Plus concept combines religious pilgrimage with visits to nearby cultural and historical landmarks, adding a unique tourism dimension to the spiritual journey — such as visiting Islamic shrines and archaeological sites in neighboring countries.
