KiN Hotel Group Expands into Malaysia, Anchoring Regional Growth Strategy in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 May 2026 – Established as a Singapore-based company, KiN Hotel Group began building its hospitality presence in Vietnam in 2023 and has since grown into a next-generation hospitality platform with a portfolio of over 14 properties, including KiN Hotel Onsen, KiN Hotel Central Park, and KiN Hotel Edition Thi Sach. Centered around lifestyle-driven experiences, operational agility, technology integration, and adaptive urban asset transformation, the group’s entry into Malaysia marks a significant milestone in its long-term Southeast Asian expansion strategy, with Kuala Lumpur identified as its first strategic market outside Vietnam.

KiN’s expansion into Malaysia comes as intra-Asia travel accelerates and guest expectations evolve toward more experience-driven hospitality, with Kuala Lumpur entering a new phase of hospitality growth as a regional hub for business, lifestyle, wellness, retail, and urban tourism, driving demand for hospitality concepts that go beyond traditional hotels to deliver more dynamic, community-oriented experiences. At the core of KiN is the “essential luxury” philosophy, a hospitality approach focused on elevated comfort, strong design identity, seamless technology integration, and emotionally resonant guest experiences. As KiN’s first five-star luxury hospitality expression in Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur property will also showcase the group’s signature “Warmth of Kinship” philosophy, combining premium international hospitality standards with approachable sophistication delivering elevated experiences rooted in contemporary urban living.

“Malaysia represents far more than a single market entry for us. We see the country as a long-term regional platform where hospitality, lifestyle, technology, community, and real estate value creation increasingly converge. Kuala Lumpur offers the right balance of connectivity, demand, infrastructure, and cultural energy to support the next phase of KiN’s growth journey,” said Benny Ong, Co-Founder and Group Chief Business Officer of KiN Group.

KiN’s Malaysian debut begins with the takeover and repositioning of Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur, a landmark hospitality asset in the heart of the KLCC district, one of the city’s most prominent commercial, lifestyle, and tourism corridors. Chosen for its visibility, connectivity, and diversified demand across business, retail, wellness, and tourism, the KLCC district serves as the ideal launchpad for KiN’s Malaysian expansion. More than a conventional luxury hotel, the repositioned property is envisioned as a lifestyle-driven destination that combines design intelligence, human-centered hospitality, and culturally rooted experiences. Reflecting KiN’s signature approach to modern luxury, the property will thoughtfully incorporate Malaysian identity through architecture, interiors, local craftsmanship, culinary experiences, and community-driven programming, creating a hospitality experience that is globally sophisticated yet distinctly Malaysian.

The takeover also reflects KiN’s broader strategy of entering markets through operational hospitality assets rather than greenfield developments, enabling immediate market participation, operational continuity, faster ecosystem integration, and the ability to progressively reposition hospitality assets in response to evolving traveler expectations. KiN aims to introduce a new generation of luxury hospitality where sophistication, emotional connection, and lifestyle relevance coexist within a commercially adaptive operating model.

“Today’s travellers are looking for experiences, where hospitality goes beyond accommodation to become part of how people live, work, socialize, and experience a destination. Through our entry into Malaysia and takeover of Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur, we are building toward a new hospitality model that reflects how modern Asia travels and connects” added Benny Ong.

The property will remain operational throughout the transition, with refurbishment works implemented progressively in phases. Design team appointments are expected by June 2026, followed by room refurbishment works beginning in August and overall completion targeted by end 2026. Beyond the property itself, KiN Hotel Group aims to contribute to Malaysia’s wider hospitality ecosystem through local talent development, partnerships with businesses and creators, and the activation of lifestyle-driven community experiences, reinforcing its long-term vision of building hospitality platforms that create value for both investors and the wider urban communities and ecosystems in which it operates.

As KiN Hotel Group officially enters the Malaysian market, the group is actively exploring additional hospitality opportunities across Kuala Lumpur and inviting conversations with property owners, landlords, developers, investors and strategic partners as it introduces a new hospitality operating model built around scalable lifestyle experiences, technology-driven operations, and adaptive urban asset transformation.
