Philea Resort and Spa, Melaka Celebrates Earth Hour 2015
Melaka, 28th March 2015 – Philea Resort and Spa and associates joined hundreds of millions of people across the globe in switching off the lights of our business premises and our homes for one hour.
In support of the global call for action on climate change, Philea Resort and Spa, Melaka took several momentous measures, including turning off lobby lighting, dimming or turning off non-essential lighting such as restaurants and swimming pools for one whole hour – from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. The room guests were informed at the time of check-in about the resort’s observation of Earth Hour on the morning of 28 March 2015 to encourage them to switch off non-essential lights and unplugging non-essential equipment for an hour. A sign was positioned at reception and restaurants as well in reminding guests about the Earth Hour event.
“Climate change has become one of the most environmental challenges. It affects every human being on the planet. Earth Hour is the opportunity for people from all corners of the world cast their vote for action on climate change. We hope to see there is some reporting of the drop in electricity consumption during the hour.” said the resort’s General Manager, Lim Beng Weh.
