Tourism Malaysia and IOI Properties Group forge strategic tourism partnership
Tourism Malaysia and IOI Hospitality Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of IOI Properties Group Berhad (IOIPG), have formalised a strategic partnership to strengthen Malaysia’s appeal as a lifestyle and leisure destination under the “Malaysia, Beautifully Yours” brand.
The partnership was marked by the exchange of a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) between Tourism Malaysia director-general Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim and IOI Properties Group head of hotels Alan Yau. Senior representatives from both organisations attended the ceremony.
Under the agreement, both parties will collaborate on joint marketing campaigns, promotional activities and experiential tourism initiatives, leveraging IOIPG’s portfolio of hotels, shopping malls and leisure offerings to enhance visitor experiences, encourage longer stays and increase tourism spending.
Mohd Amirul Rizal said Malaysia’s strength lies in combining its cultural heritage with modern lifestyle and leisure experiences. He added that the partnership would integrate hospitality and retail offerings to encourage visitors to extend their stays.
Tan Lee Fong, assistant general manager of hospitality management at IOI Properties Group, said the collaboration would support Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 through joint marketing initiatives, curated travel packages and cross-promotional activities targeting domestic and international visitors.
As part of the collaboration, IOIPG will support the campaign with special stopover flight programme packages at its IOI Resort City hotels. Participating properties include Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, Le Méridien Putrajaya, Moxy Putrajaya, Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, and Four Points by Sheraton Puchong.
The initiative will be complemented by promotions through Club IOI, offering hotel stays to top loyalty-point earners. Tourism Malaysia and IOIPG will also introduce joint digital, physical and on-the-ground marketing campaigns to increase visibility in domestic and international markets.
The partnership comes as Malaysia extends its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign through 2027, creating further opportunities to promote the country as a travel destination and support businesses across hospitality, food and beverage, and retail.
Tourism Malaysia reported 28.8 million international visitor arrivals from January to August 2026, up 1.8% from 28.2 million during the same period in 2025. Domestic tourism recorded 151.6 million visitors in the first half of 2026, a 5.6% increase from 143.5 million a year earlier.
Tourism Malaysia said it would continue strengthening partnerships across the retail and hospitality sectors to improve visitor experiences, stimulate demand and support sustainable tourism growth.
