Tribute Portfolio Makes Its Mumbai Debut with The Ballard Hotel
MUMBAI, INDIA, 2 November 2026 — Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott Bonvoy, has opened The Ballard, Mumbai, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, marking the brand’s first property in the city. Located in the historic Ballard Estate in South Mumbai, the 47-room hotel draws inspiration from the neighbourhood’s architectural character, maritime history and cultural heritage.
The hotel reinterprets the spirit of old Bombay through Art Deco-inspired interiors that complement the area’s Neoclassical and Edwardian architecture. Its location opposite the General Post Office and near the Fort precinct places guests within reach of Mumbai’s historic landmarks, including Flora Fountain, Horniman Circle, the Asiatic Society Library and Mumbai Port.
Kiran Andicot, senior vice-president of South Asia at Marriott International, said The Ballard reflects Tribute Portfolio’s approach of bringing together independent hotels with distinct identities shaped by their surroundings. He added that the property combines South Mumbai’s heritage and cultural character with personalised hospitality.
A Heritage-Inspired Stay in South Mumbai
The Ballard features 47 rooms, including a Presidential Suite, designed around an Art Deco aesthetic. Vintage radios and telephones add a nostalgic touch, while selected rooms offer views of the General Post Office and Mumbai Port, connecting the interiors with the district’s maritime past.
The design reflects the hotel’s wider approach of blending historical influences with contemporary comfort, offering guests a stay rooted in the character of its surroundings.
Dining Inspired by Mumbai’s Character
The hotel’s dining venues offer three distinct experiences.
Goma serves pan-Asian cuisine, bringing together regional and international flavours. For rooftop dining, Goma Sky pairs Asian small plates with panoramic views of Mumbai Port and the Arabian Sea, providing a lively setting for both hotel guests and local visitors.
Meanwhile, The Kettle Room, located in the lobby, takes inspiration from the humble kettle and its place in old Bombay. The café serves locally brewed chai, speciality coffee and freshly baked treats in a relaxed setting.
Connected to Mumbai’s Historic Districts
The hotel’s location offers convenient access to the city’s public transport network. It is minutes from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, which connects directly to both terminals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
The Eastern Freeway, Coastal Road and Atal Setu also provide road connections to the wider city, including Navi Mumbai.
Pawan Poojari, hotel manager of The Ballard, said the property offers guests an opportunity to experience South Mumbai’s history, culture and contemporary energy, with major heritage landmarks and transport connections nearby.
The Ballard participates in Marriott Bonvoy, allowing members to earn and redeem points for stays at the hotel and across the group’s participating portfolio.
