Dining out with your little ones can be difficult at times. Pick a wrong restaurant, and you’ll end up with restless tots and food that are challenging for them to consume. Fortunately, more and more eateries these days are becoming children-friendly, primed with facilities and menus that promise enriching experience for families. The following are selected children-friendly cafes in Klang Valley that families could give a try…         

 

1. RGB Coffee at the Bean Hive, Kampung Datuk Keramat

If you are moved by good food, this café will make your heart skip a beat. With extensive menu filled with generous selections of meat-based, vegetarian and vegan options, including special offerings for children, there is something for everyone here. The ambience is cosy too, suitable for parents to catch up with their friends. There is even a reading corner with plenty of books and board games for diners to enjoy, and its safe play area comes with various fun toys.

 

2. Marmalade, Bangsar Village II 

Taking pride in its delicious mix of indulgent and healthy fare, cooked from scratch using only organic ingredients, Marmalade woos even the most discerning parents. Service is superb, and the space is kept vibrant and airy for patrons’ utmost comfort. There are two play areas here – indoor and outdoor – filled with toys that are cleaned every day before closing.

3. Bucket B Café, IPC Shopping Centre 

A firm parents’ favourite, this café features moth-watering menu, a safe play area with high-quality toys and colourful design that are perfect for children’s parties as well. The price range is affordable. Occasionally, the café organises art and craft workshop for its patrons to enjoy.

 

4. Blokke Café, Citta Mall 

LEGO lovers with children, this one is for you. Create a fun bonding session with your loved ones here over LEGO education classes or let them explore the impressive indoor playground equipped with ball pit, mini rock wall, trampoline, and toy cars. The menu highlights Asian and Western options, including children’s meals that are sure to tempt even the pickiest of little eaters.

 

5. Upperhouse Kitchen and Dessert Bar, Bangsar 

With exquisite plating techniques and exceptional flavours, it is easy to see why the food offered here wins over both parents and little ones. The menu consists of Asian and Western classics, but the gorgeous desserts are truly the showstoppers. Tables are loosely arranged to ease movement, and there is a small play area complete with kitchen play sets, including a changing table in the washroom for families’ convenience.

 

6. Green Tomato Café

If you prefer your children playing outside more often, this café comes with a garden and a homely setting, ideal for your family. The garden has ample space for children to run around, and there’s also a bouncy castle on site that is absolutely safe for your little warriors’ use. They even organise batik classes from time to time, so it’s best to check the schedule prior your visit. The menu here mainly comprises Western offerings such as sandwiches and pastas.

 

7. Playground The Café, Mont Kiara

Operating with parents and young guests in mind, Playground The Café boasts thoughtful family-friendly facilities in the forms of big indoor playground, nursing room, baby walkers, and healthy menu, including puree for the tiny tots. For added security, it also features a separate area for crawling babies. Parents can even sign their children up for themed playgroup sessions that are held from time to time.

 

8. Weaning Tots, MyTOWN

After long hours of shopping at MyTOWN, why not stop by this café to rest your feet, feed hungry tummies and keep your children happy all at the same time? The café has an indoor playground complete with a ball pool and giant slide that will excite any active toddlers. More interestingly, budding little chefs can also take part in making their own pizza here.  The menu comprises mainly western dishes such as pizzas, wraps and pastas.

 

9. Purradise Cat Café KL, TTDI

If your children love cats, then this cafe is purr-fect for them, which has over 20 adorable rescued cats, all ready to melt your heart as they roam freely in a large space filled with colourful bean bags. Entrance fee is MYR18 per person for the first hour, which includes one complimentary drink. Guests get free additional 30 minutes (per pax) for every RM12 spent on ala-carte items.
