VE Hotel & Residence welcomes the holy month of Ramadan with its offering of impressive buffet dinner spread to be enjoyed during iftar (breaking of fast) from 6 May until 4 June 2019. With the theme ‘Ramadan Bersama Citarasa Bonda’ inspired from the Malaysian straits heritage, the spread presents a delectable selection of traditional and local favourites that will definitely delight your taste buds. Below are the signature dishes that you must try at the buffet.

  1. Asam Pedas

For your main course, be prepared to dig into Asam Pedas (spicy and sour dish) that is common across the country. Meat choices such as beef, fish and chicken are neatly arranged for diners to pick them and pour the gravy onto them. The gravy is not only mouth-watering but goes perfectly well with the fish, which is our personal favourite! We recommend you a bowl of this soothing gravy for its tanginess and spiciness all rolled into one.

  1. Sambal Udang

Sambal Udang (spicy shrimp) will always have a special place in everyone’s heart. Nothing screams home-cooked when this dish complements rice. The star of this dish is not the shrimp but the flavour and savouriness of the sauce . A taste of this fiery dish will leave you wanting for more. If you’re not a fan of Sambal Udang, fret not, for you may order other equally tantalising dishes like Kari Ayam Kapitan (Kapitan curry chicken), Portuguese Lamb, Gulai Umbut Pisang (banana stem curry) and more.

  1. Onde-Onde

No matter how full we are, there’s always space for desserts. Anything sweet is always the best way to end your full course meal and your iftar wouldn’t be incomplete without Onde-Onde (glutinous rice balls filled with palm sugar and coated with shredded coconut). You can get your Onde-Onde freshly done at one of the stalls as it will be prepared right in front of you. If that’s not enough, there are other desserts such as Keria Gula Melaka (sweet potato doughnuts covered in palm sugar), Sago Gula Melaka (sago pudding with palm sugar), Ais Kacang (shaved ice with sweet condiments) and more.
