KUALA LUMPUR, MARCH 2018 – Come meal time, wonderful aromas reminiscent of home emanate from VE Hotel & Residence’s all-day-dining restaurant – The Straits Estate, beckoning hungry tummies with entrancing whiffs.
The introduction of VE DI HATI initiative by the hotel this year hopes to bring back fond memories of the yesteryears with delicious homemade dishes and homely ambience encircling the scene; a memory which blanketed guests and patrons in love and comfort.
VE DI HATI, which is a month long programme scheduled from 17 May till 14 June 2018, provides a framework for VE Hotel & Residence to champion three defining areas:
“A reunion to break fast exhumes sheer peace and joy when contentment and appreciation are being reflected with the presence of our loved ones. At VE Hotel & Residence, we cater just the same environment for you to cherish your sweet memories and present acknowledgement within your family, colleagues and friends,” said Tony Ho, General Manager of VE Hotel & Residence.
VE DI HATI initiative will be mainly powered through The Straits Festival at the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant – The Straits Estate, an outlet inspired by Malaysia’s straits heritage and rich melting pot culture, with alfresco seating overlooking beautiful view of the city.
VE Hotel & Residence’ Director of Operations, Sidi Fikri remarked, “The Straits Festival, available daily throughout the holy month, will celebrate signature varieties often found in big Malaysian joyous events, such as weddings and street carnivals. Around the restaurant – inside or outside, our team of culinary enthusiasts will man a selection of live stations where you can get and replenish your fill, and sample dishes all you can – from the Gearbox or beef ribs soup stall, to Laksa, Roti John, Popiah Basah or Rojak stalls, and not forgetting the sweet, colorful Ais Kacang.”
“Your Iftar journey will not be complete without feasting your eyes and appetite on a whole Roasted Lamb or a smoky fiery Shawarma with a variety of spice rubs on different days. Adding more to that street festival feel, look out for the BBQ smoke coming out from the live Satay pits to find your favorite childhood Satay BBQ sticks prepared right in front of you,” enthused Sidi.
This fantastic line-up of live stalls will also be complemented by a full buffet spread indoors where diners can enjoy over 100 selections of dishes and ingredients to top off their feasting experience.
Other main dishes to look out for include the Ayam Kurma Navratan, Daging Hitam Mamak, Ayam Briyani, Madras Lamb Masala, Udang Masak Merah, Nangka Muda Masak Lemak, Sotong Goreng Kunyit, Daging Kerutup and many more.
Those with an eye on their health can toss up their own Ulam-Ulam Kampung, or pick from a variety of ready-made salads and vegetarian mains on offer. The variety of fish crackers, tapioca crackers and papadoms make for good snacking too.
Should one have room for desserts, a selection of cakes, cookies, assorted Malay Kuih, Pulut Panggang and Tapai make for a sweet ending. Alternatively, have a bowl of refreshing Sago Gula Melaka or Bubur Pengat Durian. Both kids and adults will also find the ice cream – served in individual bowls, much to their liking. A variety of toppings and sauces are available, so just lather on whichever strikes your fancy.
Tony further elaborated that central to VE DI HATI is the hotel’s Share The Care initiative where guests who dine at The Straits Festival will also participate in a good cause, where RM1 from each individual sale cover throughout the holy month will be dedicated to VE Hotel’s adopted children home, which will be announced at the end of Ramadan.
VE DI HATI will be supported through the hotel’s social media channels – Instagram and Facebook, utilizing hashtag #VEDiHati as story-telling and interactive platforms, for guests to share their positive experience and inspiring stories.
“Through VE DI HATI, we hope to promote, nurture and inspire togetherness, friendships, respect, kindness and love – all things that matter to the heart. This initiative will also give us the opportunity to be closer to our guests, and appreciate them for their support and camaraderie,” concluded Tony.
The Straits Festival at The Straits Estate is available daily from 17 May until 14 June 2018, 6.30pm to 10.30pm, priced at RM128 nett per person. Children below 12 years old and senior citizen above 55 years old dine at RM64 nett per person.

Otherwise, diners can book and pay by 30 April for a 20% Off on all other days throughout Ramadan. These special offers are not applicable to event bookings.
