Genting Highlands Premium Outlets is Getting Bigger

Planning a Genting Highlands getaway? There will soon be even more reason to make a shopping stop, with Genting Highlands Premium Outlets set to expand by approximately 70,000 square feet.

Genting Simon is marking 15 years of premium outlets in Malaysia with a look towards the future, announcing the next phase of expansion for its hilltop shopping destination in Genting Highlands.

Scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027, the expansion will add approximately 70,000 square feet to the existing 300,000-square-foot centre. For travellers, that means more retail space to explore alongside an already popular stop for designer and name-brand outlet shopping.

But it is not just about adding more shops.

The expansion will also introduce additional parking and upgraded visitor facilities, including a redesigned Genting Lounge, dedicated prayer rooms and baby care rooms. The additions should make the centre a little easier to navigate for families and travellers planning to spend several hours browsing, dining and shopping.

From Johor to the Genting Highlands

The expansion is also a milestone for Genting Simon, which brought the premium outlets concept to Southeast Asia when Johor Premium Outlets opened in 2011.

Since then, the portfolio has grown to include Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, which opened in 2017 as Southeast Asia’s first hilltop Premium Outlet Center, as well as Jakarta Premium Outlets in Indonesia, which opened in 2025.

Today, Genting Simon operates three premium outlet centers across Malaysia and Indonesia, with each offering approximately 150 designer and name-brand outlet stores.

For visitors, these destinations have become more than simply places to shop. Johor Premium Outlets, for instance, can easily slot into a wider Johor road trip, while Genting Highlands Premium Outlets offers travellers a convenient shopping stop during a highland escape.

Shop, Save and Win

If you are heading to either Genting Highlands or Johor this weekend, the 15th anniversary celebrations are already under way.

From 10 to 13 September 2026, both outlet centres are hosting four days of anniversary activities, with participating luxury and designer brands offering savings of up to 80%.

There are also customer activities and anniversary experiences, plus the “Shop More! Win Bigger!” campaign, which comes with RM100,000 worth of rewards.

The celebrations were officially held at Johor Premium Outlets, bringing together representatives from Genting Simon, government agencies, business partners, brand partners and the media.
