From Penang to Putrajaya, Moxy Putrajaya Presents Comforting Flavours at Heritage Food Bazaar

While Malaysia’s capital region is no stranger to good food, there’s something undeniably magnetic about the flavours of Penang, that northern culinary melting pot where wok hei, tamarind tang, and spicy gravies have long defined the island’s street-side identity. This July, Moxy Putrajaya is channelling that very spirit with the Penang Heritage Food Bazaar, a lively culinary collaboration with Courtyard by Marriott Penang.

Running every Friday and Saturday from 11 to 26 July at the hotel’s stylish Three.6.5 restaurant, the event brings the unmistakable flavours of George Town’s hawker stalls to the heart of Putrajaya, and yes, no long inter-state travel is required.

Penang on a Plate

Penang’s food is more than sustenance; it is identity, memory, and ritual. Its hawker culture, recognised globally for its diversity and depth, is distilled here into a dynamic dining experience that does not shy away from bold flavours or authenticity. Each dish at the bazaar is prepared at live-action stations, invoking the sounds, smells, and pace of George Town’s late-night food stalls.

  • Chef Ahmad Zaim (Courtyard Penang): With over a decade of experience, Chef Zaim is a champion of authentic flavours with a modern twist. His Penang White Curry Mee is not to be missed.
  • Chef John Lee Chung Wai (Moxy Putrajaya): With more than 22 years of experience and deep expertise in Chinese Cantonese cuisine, Chef John brings classic Penang flavours like Lobak and Char Koay Teow to life. His tenure at top hotels like DoubleTree by Hilton and The Westin Kuala Lumpur reflects a strong foundation in culinary excellence.
  • Guest Chef Koteswa Rao (Putrajaya Marriott): A master of South Indian and Chettinad cuisine, Chef Rao has nearly three decades of experience and is best known for his legendary Nasi Kandar. His flair for bold, spice-driven dishes previously wowed guests at Putrajaya Marriott’s Zest Lifestyle Restaurant during the iconic Chettinad Banana Leaf Promotion.

Together, these chefs will co-create a buffet experience culminating a celebration of culinary identity, technique, and cross-district collaboration.
